Really good video, great info. Viewers obviously don’t underestimate the value of actually practicing raw aim mechanics (like he says at the end), but adding this on top might be the secret sauce we all needed

The easiest tip in most games is have a set point you always return your crosshair to (generally head height) So many people in games like overwatch and rivals are looking too low or too high constantly and it increases the mouse movement you need to have

If you're worried about specifically raw aim, join voltaic, or revosect. they're aim training communities, who have a lot of information specifically on aim.

5:45 see in this clip. You can also see the dva waiting for her variable for her D.M.(the information) on the enemy team (the tracer) waiting for the right timing to eat the pulse bomb because they know a sleeping target is a free elimination so they wait to hear some blinks and the timing. Sometimes when I'm tank (or playing in general) I imagine the enemies movement as information for what they'll do for example If I notice the team being a little more aggressive they probably either have ults ready to use. This is something every ow player does no matter the rank There's so many things in OW that can be considered as a spotter 6:25 I'd like to imagine the wind as player movement, it's something you can't necessarily control but something you can attempt to read and predict. It's why having the most unpredictable movements can more than likely not be predicted by the enemy team I think this is also why most people would miss "easy shots" because they're unpredictable for you while hitting "hard shots" are easy because they're predictable for you. This goes to everyone in any shooter because not many people can predict as easily as others. 7:52 and this is exactly what I mean. Most players in this game wouldn't be able to hit this shot because they wouldn't be able to predict the tracer blinking in and going for a one clip. 9:50 in this clip I'd like to say patience was definitely key because when Hanzo leaps his hitbox becomes WAY easier to predict and read. This is something I call "hitbox locked" where if anyone does a certain action its guaranteed information say for example the Hanzo and widow. 10:47 and this a good example of "movement locked" because when wrecking balls piledrives anyone in the range flings upwards with a certain lock timer where they can't move unless they have some kind of movement ability or passive (like genji dash or Cass roll) so it's very easy to predict where they'll be to get the kill. 16:18 I'd like to imagine your heartbeat as your movement and my breathing as my aim 16:45 this is kind of funny but imagine the soj ult as a wild dog and once you're behind the shield they're inside a cage (Thank you for the information wizard btw 🙏🏻)

My own name for "aim distance" is "deviation from target center"
@magevalewow8 күн бұрын
I call it that bcs when tracking properly, the target will always be near/at the center of the screen but due to errors there will be some deviation between crosshair and the center of the target. It's a 2 step process to track insanely. 1. General tracking - Instead of thinking about where or how much to move your crosshair you stop thinking about it and let your hand/crosshair follow the target. This will however not guarantee that you're on target. This step is just to link your hand/crosshair to the targets movement to make the target be near the center at all times. 2. Deviation reduction - Since now the target is always near the center, we can think in terms of deviation and focus our attention to reduce that deviation. In other words, Deviation reduction is just a correction that will, with effort increase accuracy of your general tracking in real time, and with practice increase accuracy of your general tracking over time.

Id love amthn this in depth about the mechanical side of things, i played console my whole life, even after about a year using a mouse feels alien to me, i cant find a sens i like, i cant find a way to feel comfortable, dunno how i should hold the mouse, how much i should move my wrist or arm, all those silly lil details Everything here is great, but im not even close to being able to make use of it yet ;-;

There is a lot of transferrable information here but also I feel like some of your points get a little confusing when you're talking across games. I get wanting to keep it somewhat generalized not just stick to overwatch, but I don't think it is worth it here. If you had more experience across different games as a coach I feel like you would be able to talk about those other games more precisely.

From those clips, I'm not seeing anything amazing. The Widow shots landed but were slow / visibly pre-calculated. The tracking was standard SMG spray, indistinguishable from any other player. I'm curious what the advice is, but not enough to search through 40 minutes without timestamps.

Something ill say too is your positioning on the map is super important. Certain angles will allow for instantly better aim. If you're on Soldier and you're playing lowground you're going to be getting abused by movement variables or uneven ground. Getting the high ground is super important.

really cool video! i've recently been playing TF2 6s (started early 2024) and I'd be interested to hear on you guys' opinions on the difference here between the utility and effectiveness of keeping low aim distance in a wider dm skill context, as one of the things I've heard regarding wider Scout dm skill includes not aiming at your opponents as part of evasive movement and going for wider flicks in this regard. Obviously this is a wider topic and pretty specific, but since there was a focus on more usable aim I'm interested to hear what you guys think about that, in particular @shrugger12 due to their TF2 background. (as an aside i am aware a lot of the concepts still heavily apply to wider parts of TF2 6s skill, and loved the video, but im trying to parse the concepts for a game where that standing still is less usable (in a sense that there's less shields and that standing still feels like a death sentence to me on scout (albeit i am very new))

I'm at 27 mins, for naming that variable, perhaps "aim deviation" would be better than "aim distance". Since a deviation is offset from some set target. Like if an ocean liner deviated 1 degree off course it could end up hundreds of kilometers from the destination after crossing the sea.

So what you’re telling me is, if I wanna get good I need to get a microwavable mouse and not move it too much and just predict when it’s going to work. Got it.
@user-funnymadp13 күн бұрын
the whole predicting thing only works for games like ow😂, try it in cs, u die the moment u don't shoot and try to predict😂imo, waiting for others to enter ur crosshair instead of actively aiming for target is a sign of bad aim, in that split second u might just die, it's also mind blowing that stop and shoot is a new term to ow player

i cant help but feel this is the inverse curve bell graph of noob to journeyman to master: noob stands still while aiming journeyman moves all over the place to not get headshot so easily master stands still while aiming the difference being of knowing when to move and when not to, based on position, timing and situational awareness.

Crazy mechanic skills, but with enough practice we can do it too folks. Here my 5 takeaways: 1. Off-angling 2. Focus on isolated targets or target that are pressuring the team 3. Charge up blinks & recall before engage 4. Blink around natural cover 5. Be Topdragon

@Farzeezy19 күн бұрын
The movement thing isn't really explained fully or might be misleading. Often reacting to movement is not enough to solve the movement variable. A LOT of it is successfully predicting CHANGES in movement from the moment you process initial movement to the moment you take the shot. The milliseconds between those two things can make or break a shot landing. Unfortunately just boiling it down to "they are moving left so I move left" is already where majority of players are right now with their aim and it's the reason why they cannot consistently hit targets. A lot can change when you're taking those deliberate fractions of a second to process
