When we see evidence of heat damage to a press connecter (stay con, blade or other) on a circuit board there's a very good chance that the solder joint to the board got hot enough to be damaged and become a cold joint, or cracked. If that board isn't going to be replaced, then it's good to carry solder, and a good grade of flux. Not the flux you use to solder pipes but rather for electronics.. Take it apart to get to the back side as well as the front, brush it up good using a softer brush, fiberglass, or brass, etc. Clean it with flux and then re-solder the joint using plenty of flux to get the solder to flow properly on the board as well as the blade connector. Use care. Don't damage the trace on the board. It's also good to find out why so much current was flowing through the connection to cause the damage in the first place. If the board feeds some load through a relay or whatever make sure it's not pulling too much current. Always remember that damage had a cause, sometimes it's due to under engineering, but don't assume that.

I really don't know why you wouldn't just replace the Emerson control. All Copeland built up units ship with this control now. The control is easy to set up, don't even need your gauge to set it. The parts are readily available from any copeland distributor. There seems to be a fear of digital from technicians. The time spent to take this unit back to the old type controls could have been used to go after to correct control.
