Last thing I ever want is to be famous and touring. I like being unknown and a private life with music. But subbed, just to hear the contrast and to listen to a great musician.

Finally! Since the introduction of this keyboard been waiting for an actual musician who is a practiced keyboardist who can play well with both hands to demo this. Now I know what this synth is capable of...at least for now on December 19th 2024. As we get deeper into it that only time allows we shall see the next phase of keybed/PAT/hybrid PAT/ sound design and modulation come together in who knows what! Very exciting. I don't know if any pedal modulation was involved in this video?

Sam, great video! Question about the H9: could you use this as a multi effect processor to mainly apply to vocals in a live setting plugged into a simple Yamaha MG12XU?

I may be wrong when it comes to what you need but I was able to get everything working without black hole. I remember when I needed it a few years ago but decided to rout the audio to a different streaming pc instead. Now I do it all from one computer. OBS has some built in ways to set it up without it now.

You got some strong stands 😂
@SamGutman5 күн бұрын
actually the stands aren't bearing too much load. The bottom board is on a Z stand of it's own. The seaboard is very light and is on the bottom tier of a normal X stand, with the Matrixbrute on the top tier. The Matrixbrute is a heavier keyboard but not so heavy that a normal stand can't handle it.

That’s a really great way to think of it. An improv environment. One thing to warn you of. There are a lot of ambient guys that are getting copyright strikes even on their improvised live streams. Their music sounds nothing like what they are getting strikes for but the AI that searches for it is broken. There is also no good way to fight it.
@SamGutman5 күн бұрын
I've had things like that happen before, kind of. I sometimes use clips of people talking and one clip in particular was apparently copyrighted. I'd get Facebook notifications every few months that a copyright claim was made, and then released, and then made again, and then released again. very annoying.
@MattnUska5 күн бұрын
@ well at least according to one ambient guitar player. I can’t remember his name. It is his own original music without any samples that is getting strikes. There’s really nothing to do about it and I’m not suggesting you do anything different. It’s just kinda annoying. It’s not like we make much money off this stuff. I don’t usually put anything of my own work up that isn’t already published but I have been thinking about doing something similar to what you are doing. Just for fun really. There are like 12 people in the world that regularly listen to my music.
@SamGutman5 күн бұрын
@@MattnUska yep same it's all just for fun. Years ago I used to upload my streams to Spotify and band camp and all that, but even that I can't be bothered to do anymore.

Thanks for creating and posting this video. I agree that MPE and these types of keyboards don't provide much benefit for a live "pop/rock" band setting. I find that channel pressure, mod and pitch bend wheels, and perhaps an expression pedal are more than sufficient. I could see huge benefits for composing or performing trance, drone, or other "atmospheric" music.
@jaustin75310 күн бұрын
You can reverse the pitch action in page 2. They are reversed by default because out of the box the original OBs were. Strange by today's standards but in the 80s (my era) that's the way it was 😊

The Polybrute ticks so many boxes, but the sound is thin and sterile like a VST...

I hope the headgear from Arturia listen to your advice cause having the entire V Collection on hardware synth like that could be a game changer, they should see what Clavia do with the Nord Wave 2 this beast is not cheap but as a live keyboard it deliver a lot with a lot of free software and patch dowloadable for free, i hope they make some improvement ...
@thejollyjoker18711 күн бұрын
Great. Now, please, can you make a video that is watchable? I mean where the refresh rate of the camera matches the blinking lights of the synth? because I scrolled down and only listened to this one, it was impossible to watch..

This video is such a game changer! thanks for making it so simple to understand and easy to follow. Would you happen to know if its possible to send multiple parts of a Performance (specifically, parts 9-16 of the MODX) to a MIDI device (MOX6)?

This video accurately describes why eurorack and I do not mix. I don't want to make non-repeated soundscapes, as lovely as those accidents are. I am a guitarist. I can already do that with pedals. Cheers.

I think the 2.0 firmware update allows you to change the polarity of the mod and pitch wheels to go up or down. Plus the arp seems to have a lot of options if you check the manual

I feel this is amazing content, coming from his heart, honest information. I am a trained classical pianist. When I was at the conservatory of music, I noticed that the majority of my teachers were lawyers/musicians, medical doctors/ musicians, even civil engineers/musicians. That stood up in my mind. My career was in the health field/ musician. This was my combo in order to provide for my family. Songwriting, producing and home recording have given me more satisfying rewards than money. I have played in many places, in front of large and small crowds. Being a musician is my passion, but the monetary return compared to other professions does not equal to the sacrifice and time invested in improving my skills and perfecting my craft over the years. Sam, thanks for sharing. You defined the real struggles of a professional musician.

That's the thing about being a keyboard player. Your living exits on the road...Always. Unpredictability for every scenario. At least the music is easy. But personally I could not play this music. But I think you're a good keyboard player and would be interested in knowing your preferred music genre.
