I would never have imagined a touring musician would drop a new instrument into a tour date with... basically no prep time. Amazing. And it sounds wonderful.

That's the kind of musician I wanna see!

once again, such a thrill to get to see 'life on the big stage' (as I used to call it when I played pro). So awesome that you offer us insights into the scene, this new gear, etc. .....a really rare and wonderful opportunity for us all - thanks

Very cool to see someone incorporating it in a live set. I should really go see one of these shows! And balls of steel to make it happen so fast after you first laid hands on it. 😅

Amazing seeing it in action in a live performance like this and it sounds luscious! What did Lauryn or any of the other band members think of the sound sompared to the Seaboard on its own?

@@MillisecondFalcon Lauryn said “What’s that some kind of Theramin thing? Haha. Everyone else in the band thought I was casting spells.

Dear Sam, thats an amazing performance and a gutsy one. Congrats. How do you ensure malfunctions during such a big show? You need the laptop in front of you to operate the Seaboard/Airwave. What is the software freezes or the laptop has some issue during the performance?

@jkmatthieАй бұрын
It certainly sounds cool enough, but I really just can not picture how Mrs. Hill can overly appreciate the experimentation on her songs during live performances. The Seaboard was one thing… the airwave though; it just completely throws off or takes over some sections of songs that have a very distinct sound to them. She must be very forgiving on this 25th anniversary tour lol... That said, it certainly will have some incredible live application in the future, with more time and pre-planning.
@SamGutmanАй бұрын
Well, in this case I mixed the audio so the seaboard/airwave is at the front of the mix, since it's the subject of the video. But it wasn't that loud that in the room.
@jkmatthieАй бұрын
@@SamGutman Ah, that actually makes a lot more sense. I did think it sounded a bit like it was overwhelming her voice. Didn't mean to sound overly negative. As a recent Seaboard Rise 2 owner, I can see it is certainly a wonderful musical expansion with a tremendous amount of potential. Excited for what the future will sound like.

@MaFaKeysАй бұрын
Sam, you must be really knowing what you’re doing, this is so risky to do this at such professional level. It’s also risky that the artist lets you… What indeed if something goes wrong? I’m assuming you have immediate options to grab the sound on one of the other two keyboards? Just not the same expression I guess?
@SamGutmanАй бұрын
So even though my normal rig is 4 keyboards, I have things set up so that I'm prepared to do anything I need to do on just the Montage. So if something fails I can fallback on that.
