I tried inlay with easel but they never fit together, how do you use that tolerance tab?
@cyberreefguru

Hi Chris - the tolerance is the distance between the inlay and pocket. I've found 0.004 and 0.007 to be acceptable depending on the rigidity of your machine. What machine are you using?

@cyberreefguru 24 күн бұрын
Hello Billie Jo -- I do not know what you mean by "downloaded the code" -- you mean you saved the gcode to your computer? If so, you need to then upload the gcode to the onefinity -- you can do that by using a flash drive (copy to flash drive, put the flash drive in the OF USB port), or by clicking the upload button on the OF interface from your laptop and completing the upload. From there, the gcode should show up in the drop down and you will be able to "run" it from the user interface. Hope that helps -- thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing the video. I was hoping there would be less video of a 'talking head' and more visual. Let me explain. The entire video I was wondering just how you sealed the piece. Did you seal the bare surface then engrave or did you seal the piece after the engraving but just the top non-engraved parts? or did you seal only the engraved areas? It is my understanding epoxy bonds best over bare wood I was wondering how the 'epoxy sealing coat' was done. Id the inside of the engraving was sealed with epoxy wouldn't that mean the colored pour risks not bonding well to the piece? I hope you understood my rambling, I would understand if you don't get my confusion. Perhaps I'll have to rewatch the video and hope I'd missed something.. but its a lot of only talking and no visual reference of what part to key in on and when.. and in circles I go haha Oh, lastly. I also wondered if letting the colored epoxy thicken up some (at least my deep pour epoxy lets me play with the time/viscosity variable. Would be curious if the thicker stage epoxy would be inhibited enough to bleed less into the wood pores?

Thank you for this. The information provided was very informative and straightforward. Am I understanding correctly that I don't have to specify which machine I am using for it to generate the proper code? If so, this is far easier than ever. All the other software I've tried out has a long process of entering information and selecting the machine before it can export the g-code. Thanks again!
@cyberreefguru
@cyberreefguru Ай бұрын
Hi there -- well, sort of. Easel will only generate gcode that is compatible with the X-Carave, which is (currently) based on grbl. The good news is grbl gcode is very compatible and interoperable since it does not use special or esoteric commands. If you have a machine that uses some specialized version of gcode, then you will need a translator for Easel. Alternatively, Autodesk Fusion (and Vectric and Carveco and others) has post processors which can generate specialized gcode for any machine. That makes Easel simple and easy to use, but also limiting when you have advanced needs. Hope this helps.

@@cyberreefguru Thank you for making that point. In your video, you mentioned 1F, and I'm looking forward to trying Easel. Lately, I've been frustrated with learning CAD/CAM software, which has made the process less enjoyable, contrary to why I initially purchased my 1F. Lately, I've been pondering whether I should sell it and switch to a shaper origin because their Studio software is user-friendly, uncomplicated, and straightforward. However, after watching your video, I realized I should give it another chance before giving up entirely. I have to admit, Shaper’s Origin and Studio are appealing. I wish I had known about them before purchasing my 1Finity. 🤷‍♂️
@cyberreefguru
@cyberreefguru Ай бұрын
@@Mr.GucciClass1A Hi - I completely understand your frustration. But the Onefinity is completely different from the Shaper Origin. If you just need small cuts or to route a few pockets, the Shaper Origin will work great (note -- I don't own one). But if you want to make much more complicated designs with a lot less human interaction, then the Onefinity or another CNC is your best beat. So it depends on what projects you are trying to make, how repeatable you want them to be, and how much time you want to spend overseeing the actual making process. The Onefinity can operate completely unattended (though I don't recommend that), and the Shaper Origin can not -- two completely different approaches to similar problems. Hope that helps!

I've been watching a lot of CNC videos and this is the first time I've run across the terms climb and conventional milling. Can this be set on Easel?

Crazy to spend $2,000 for a tool and find out things you don't like about it. Maybe I should start using my cheap tabletop bandsaw before spending thousands of dollars. If it's hollow, I bet the dust comes down the back support that goes all the way from the top to the bottom. The blade probably carries it down to the bottom like an elevator.

using Pythagoras theorem is the best way to do it. Use 3 pieces of tape each with an X. Use a pointed bit in the collet. Move the CNC back to the rear left. Put a the tape with the X directly under the point. Then move the CNC X distance towards the front, put tape there. And finally move it X distance to the right and put tape there. Then measure the distance from point a to c. You'll need to figure out what units you want to use but lets say you were using 1 unit per 200mm A = 0 B = 800mm from 0 C = 600mm from B Then the distance from A to C should be 1000mm, if its less then you need to bright the right side forward if its more you need to push the right side back.

If the machine is identical, the bit is identical, the material is identical, the spoil board is identical, the router or spindle is identical, the placement of the work piece on the machine is identical, and you set all the parameters up identically to the source, then you can simple "run" somebody else's gcode and *maybe* have success. Otherwise, no. Take time to learn the skills or find a different hobby. Thanks for watching!
