I have an xcarve. I actually learned a few things about Easel in this video. I LOVE that I can have it set to inches and still enter numbers as mm. I needed that yesterday. Glad to know I can do that. I also forgot about the option of turning the cut depth to 0 to let it know I don’t want to do something. I have always been frustrated about the bits available. But I did learn yesterday about how to add bits. I do have Pro. Thanks for sharing this.

Absolutely brilliant video. The knowledge you are sharing and your delivery of it is first class and I was able to take so much from this one video. I am in the the throws of trying to come to terms with my first CNC machine - a Gemitsu 3018 Prover v2 (a retirement present to myself :) ). I took delivery last week and fire it up for the first time this weekend using Easel. Even managed to make some successful tests! May I reach out to you if I have any problems? Greetings from Warsaw, Poland!

Hello Steven -- happy to help anytime; glad the video helped as well. I did a review of the 3018 as well if you are interested (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzXdGWkoKiLZsk) -- thanks for watching!

Easel is web based so you can design anywhere you have internet connection

Hi Chris -- you design using your PC and export your gcode for use with your CNC. Or you should be able to open the design on your laptop after creating it on your PC - hope this helps; thanks for watching!

was not able to find the SVG at the link. Do I have to signup for CNC with Me to get the file? If so, is there a similar file I could us?

Hi Javier - I'm working with Hamilton (@HamiltonDilbeck) to figure out the details. I do believe you need to be a member to have access to the file. Alternatively, I did upload it to my Etsy site as well: crgmakes.etsy.com/listing/1676459433/dog-paw-design-files - thank for watching!

how to do hight probe in eselplease?
@cyberreefguru4 ай бұрын
Hello Christos -- you mean how do you probe for z-height in Easel? You need to be using an X-Carve and control the machine with Easel. Then you can check for z-height under the jog area (top right) or Easel will ask before you start cutting too. Hope this helps!

Hi watched your video on making a program in easel. It was really helpful but it keeps asking me the buy a subscription to download gcode. I just wanted to make a straight line on a board with a different tool then they have listed to see if i could use a different shape then the v bit they have listed. Only changed feeds and speeds and diameter. It wont let me download the gcode. Is there a trick to making it work? Or is it not free anymore? Thanks

Hi there. It seems all v-bits are a "pro" feature. It also seems Inventables is quietly narrowing the features of the free version, which is very unfortunate. At this point it seems only Autodesk Fusion has a mostly fully featured CAM solution for free. I will continue looking, but the options are not awesome. Thanks for watching!

Made some customizations. Was not able to avoid the ridges at the bottom of the bowl pockets in Easel. Know how?
@cyberreefguru9 ай бұрын
Hi Javier - I'm not sure with Easel. You can 'hack' the system by telling Easel the bit is smaller than it actually is (like 5/8" instead of 3/4"), but the proper way would be setting the step over, which Easel does not seem to support or observe. A little sanding with something like this -> amzn.to/49dZAgh fixed any issues I had. Hope that helps -- if I find a more solid answer I will let you know.

I suggest never use anything cloud based - description ends, your project files are useless. You need the software on your computer. Never use limited softwares like Easel that you grow it out in 2 weeks as you develop you need more function but it just doesnt have more. So you need a full fledged software on your computer. Vectric, Carveco, Fusion are the softwares everyone uses.

Hi there. 100% disagree for beginners. Start with something simple that is not overwhelming and get immediate joy out of your hobby before you ramp up to more complicated software. Second point - why invest 100's if not 1000's of dollars in software you may not need in 6 months if you decide the hobby isn't for you? For someone serious, or looking to make a career out of it, or a professional, sure -- make the investment and suffer the learning curve. FWIW, Fusion is cloud based and Carveco is subscription based (unless you want to drop 8K for a perpetual license). Thanks for watching!

Hi Patrick -- so sorry, I don't know what happened. You can find the Fusion or the Fusion + Carbide Create file on my Etsy site - crgmakes.etsy.com. Both files should have the SVG if that is what you are looking for (or send me an email). I also posted it on Inventables for free - site.inventables.com/projects/dog-paw-bowl. Thanks for watching!
