Still in highschool but i started my apprenticeship with the union this summer it’s been amazing can’t wait for my future

Thank you for making this video, i'm currently 28 and doing lawn care and wanted to know about how to get an apprenticeship as an electrician and this knowledge helped give me motivation.

I’m curious about the project pictures you mentioned during the admission process. Did you have any to submit? What kind of things had other applicants done that they were able to show? Is there a beginner project you might recommend doing just for the sake of being a better candidate?

i left the recently construction union industry and switched over to diesel mechanic industry because i wasnt working consistency its the best decision in my life the sacrifice of going to school for a year and taking part time job was well worth the reset

What the actual f, it is almost as if you new I left an uninstalled power outlet because of this same issue.

Just turned 30 in June and I’ve been panicking every day thinking I didn’t have hope for a career. I started seeing your vids and I’m trying to take it as a sign that it’s what I need to do. I don’t consider myself smart so college always intimidated me but learning on the job is reassuring to me that it’s fine not knowing.

When you talked about them wanting the best of the best and what to bring it almost sounded like you need some form of prior experience. What if you’re 30yo and have no experience beyond warehouse work?

Thank you for your very informative video. I gather you did this connection to charge your EV, OUTSIDE the garage. My newbie friend has a standard wall plug the electrician ran from the Dryer Circuit from inside the house when they build the new garage. I personally feel this upgrade was done on the cheap and charged top dollar. I warned my friend that the wires were getting too hot and to remove an extension cord and go right into the wall plug.

If they show you how long it will really last then they wouldn't sell any

Man this whole time I thought anybody could just jump into this without ANY experience, I had no idea this was such a rigorous process. There goes another opportunity out ther window.

I strongly believe in treating others the way you want to be treated. I don't care how tough you are or think you are. One of my biggest struggles was dealing with Journeyman who treat you like shit. They are rude, ignorant, and impatient. I was a teacher for 7 years, and I can tell you that is not how you teach someone. I understand some people do not want to teach and find apprentices annoying. I'm sorry but this is part of the trade. If you want to influence and help people in your life, the best time is now.

Just filled out my application and sent my transcripts in. Very very nervous to be leaving my job. Thanks for the videos man, watched em all. I’m getting a lot of flack for switching from my career to electrician. All my other jobs have been troubleshooting sitting at a desk.. red tape everywhere and scarce promotions and no pride in the work.. Hope to be my own boss one day in electrical work and doing it well! Thanks again!

I've been in the Union for a year now as an apprentice, and the biggest benefit in my opinion is having someone to fight for you and back you up when your employer is screwing you over in some way. There are many rules that protect us that the companies must follow. A quick call to the union hall can sort things out when those lines are being crossed.

I'm thinking about becoming one because technology is literally taking over the world so you'll always have job security and sense it pays so good millions of people are applying so most companies will practically never be sort handed

its very expensive to buy cheap tools, better do it right the first time and keep them a lifetime, your children will inherent them and they will still be in good shape
