2:14 This young Japanese woman is Kazu Makino and, according to the end credits and the IMDb, she provided vocals to the soundtrack; she's likely seen also at 2:08 and her voice might be heard at 2:37. A couple of years later Kazu Makino founded noise rock band Blonde Redhead with Italian twin brothers Amedeo and Simone Pace. They still record and tour after more than thirty years. I once read a Facebook post by Kazu Makino saying that she met John Lurie in Japan. Judging from the tone of that post I had the feeling that they were in a relationship and he brought her to New York where she later met the Pace brothers. This TV series is produced by a Japanese broadcaster by the way.

Pegg et al, are so great here, I remember watching it, but I'll never forgive him for falling for the lies when he said 'Star Wars fans are the most toxic'. What a total fool for buying into that, or worse, believing it.

The sketch with Jesus in the office and Satan, even though it's only four minutes long, bears some striking resemblances to Gervais' The Office (which arrived three years *later*). The intonations, the expressions, the 'documentary'/'mockumentary' filming style, and especially the phrase at 9:24 "office joker...good for morale". The voice delivery and manner at 9:01 is exactly what Gervais adopted for the majority of David Brent's lines. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think this. If you take away the Jesus/Satan costumes and put the same characters in suits, this 1998 sketch would be almost a perfect four-minute-long trailer for Gervais' The Office (2001). There's a whiff of plagiarism about it.
@ruairidhlloyd2829 ай бұрын
True there are similarities and it's possibly inspired, but it's different enough to not be plagiarism. The office grew into its own thing entirely.

I did the "Sorry, I don't speak English" thing in Tenerife with the time share guys on the beach front! It worked a treat. They went on to ask "Espanol?" - "No hablo Espanol senor"..."Deutsch?"..."Nein"...."Francais?"..."Non, je regret, je ne parle pas Francais monsieur". 🤣🤣🤣

Simon Pegg was and is completely unfunny, made even worse by the fact that he tries so hard & is here amongst some effortlessly amusing comedians.
@kickedinthecalfbyacow754911 ай бұрын
Simon Pegg isn’t in most things, given the unlimited supply of videos available it’s strange how you’ve managed to find one of the few things he is in, especially considering it’s from over 20 years ago. Some might even think that you deliberately look for things that he’s in just so you can share your anger. But that would be pretty sad.
