In the episode of Tom Green Live before the first episode of Poolside Chats, Tom Green (out of frustration with a repeatedly failing phone system) smashed the thousand-dollar Pepper Pad portable computer supplied by ManiaTV. In response, Mania TV cut off the live feed, changing it to Mania TV's feed so viewers saw its programming instead of Poolside Chats.

Poolside Chats was only moderately funny because Gregg Turkington expected the prank callers and realized the show wasn't worth watching without them. Tom Green, on the other hand, actually got mad when he got trolled because he harbored the false notion that he was an important celebrity with a serious talk show (instead of a has-been tryhard making a video podcast in his living room). Watching a notorious ex-troll with delusions of grandeur get abused and get mad was comedy gold.

Most of the callers on Tom's show were from 4Chan, but Tom handled them on a Wings of Redemption level. Gregg fed off of them, and so did King Buzzo, and I miss this show so much. The last episode was flat our cancelled, because I think Gregg was sick of working with Tom after the Steve-O episode.

It really is strange that Tom never understood that if he just went along with the barrel roll meme he would probably have either been left alone or possibly even revered.
