You can tell that the fake one looks different. Maples are hard to counterfeit effectively because it has so much detail.

You need to use echometer thickness machine. It measures the thickness levels for any metals in silver or gold coins and bullion. It would have immediately picked up the 2 different metals

I like the sound test. I often use it to check bigger gold jewellery if it’s legit or fake. There’s a lot of fake gold that’s also a mix of copper and zinc etc with maybe a tad of gold if you’re lucky. It has a very tinny/tingly sound when you dangle it an roll it about in your hands. When you do this with real gold even just 9ct gold it is so much denser it doesn’t go “ting ting tingly” like if you had a hand full of copper coins. You can literally hear the difference in density it’s more of “thud thud thudly” . But it’s very noticeable and easy to hear the difference when you know. I also find smell is a good indicator. Gold doesn’t oxidise even at 9ct so it will never have a similar smell to pennies or when you smell your hands after handling them. If gold ever has a smell like copper pennies do then it’s fake. Ps I know metal doesn’t actually smell. It’s the oxidation that’s smelly. Obviously these methods wouldn’t work too well for these coins besides the sound one but it’s the other way around here 😂. Reminds of a time an old mate of mine asked for my opinion buying a gold chain once an to come with him to check it’s legit. I told him within 30 seconds of seeing it and holding it (I also smelt It but didn’t need to) that’s it’s fake and not to buy it (he forgot his gold test kit hence why I was there) but he told me he’d had more hot dinners than I’d seen gold so bought it anyway and claimed I don’t know shit…Well, His gf came round a week or so later and told me it was fake and she was not impressed when my response was “yea I know I told him it was fake before he got it” as he obviously hadn’t told her about that bit 😂.
