Fastest I've ever been on a bike is 155mph. That was more than enough for me. To imagine someone passing me doing 75mph more than I was doing is mind-blowing. Lovely RGV, by the way. Absolutely gorgeous. The modern MotoGP bikes are impressive machines, but by god are they ugly!!!!!

Me and my ol'man were GLUED to the TV for the whole season, what a year. These bikes were incredible, and the guys that wrestled them even more so! Just listening to that monster get on the powerband, even for a brief few seconds, gave me goosebumps, and misty eyes. I miss you, Dad.

I had one of Graeme crosbys track 500s. I actually got it back to being road worthy (licensed to ride on public roads) it’s was ground up rebuild. I sold it to go towards Troy Baylisses 1098R Track bike. Now the 1098R track bike was way harder to tame. I still have the 1098R in my lounge room. Edit. To add. Yamahas new 700 should have been a 700 fuel injected two stroke. I would have been first in line.

I met Kevin twice, once at the British GP in 91 and then again when, as a chancer, I walked into the Suzuki GP HQ in Edenbridge, a couple of weeks after he retired, with the pretext of grabbing some Suzuki stickers for my bike for the British GP. As I walked in Kevin was, unexpectedly, sat on a sofa in the reception, looking very relaxed in a pair of cowboy boots talking to Garry Taylor. After I babbled some rubbish about wanting stickers, with my jaw on the floor, Taylor and Schwantz took me on a little tour of the HQ, including an upstairs loft with previous years bikes stored there. I left with a personally signed photo of Schwantz and a large, signed cardboard invitation to his leaving party in Assen a week or so earlier, which I still have. Both Schwantz and Taylor were perfect hosts, to some chance who just loved their work! Oh, and I was there as a spectator at Donington when he slid off and did his marshall moment. I did collect some fragments of a front screen after the race, but I can't be entirely certain that they were from Kevin's bike, as so many others crashed in the same place! Thank you Kevin, for some fantastic memories. The greatest showman!

Frankie Chili rode that back some years back, possibly around 10 12 years ago. 750 GSXR actually put out 100bhp on a good day. 1100 officially 125bhp, although I believe it was over 135 ish.

Me too!! I grabbed some fragments of a front screen after the race, when the track was invaded, but I can't be entirely sure that they were from Kevin's bike given the number of other bikes that went down in the same place!

Schwantz on a Kanemoto Honda ? Surely that would’ve been awesome ? But I think we can all be happy with the way history worked out. Worthy of a Hollywood film, if they could be trusted not to mess it up. 😂😂

Met Kevin and his father at the bowling ally at Suzuka circuit in 1988, They were bowling in the next lane over. Both Kevin and his father were such nice folks. And the whole weekend was one of my fondest memories. Went to the track three days before the race. Met a British moto journalist and he gifted me and my buddies press passes. So got to hang out in the team pepsi pit garage and have breakfast with all the riders every morning. After all these years. I still have that pass with Kevin's autograph on it. All the riders were so unpretentious. They all seemed to be genuinely having a lot of fun. Of course as I rode the old square four Gamma while I lived in Japan. I was def a Kevin/Suzuki fan.
