Completely agree the speccy version was solid, then again I found the arcade version difficult. Just wanted to throw my 10p piece at anyone who made it look easy.

Great vid and cool intro! What a shocking selection of games haha. Given how popular Skool Daze was, you'd think programmers would have been falling over themselves to come out with something vaguely similar to capitalise on its success (apart from the shoddy efforts in the vid, that is)!

Ha cheers! I thought the same! Surely I missed some good school based games when I was a kid? Short answer, no, no I didn't 😁

The C64 was the one i grew up with, but there was one major issue that arose the longer i had it - the huge blocks everything was made up from; when Final Fight released for Spectrum, the characters were detailed and recognisible, the C64 version looked NOTHING like. Obviously games like Turrican 1&2 proved the machine was capable, but it was a huge issue when games like Streetfighter had those ginormous blocky characters.

The guy who won the competition to complete the game programmed a very nice MSX version. Hudson soft release it in Japan and it was received very negatively and is remembered as one of the platforms worst games. It was considered too difficult and unfair even though the player was given twice as many lives

I used to play World Cup Italia 90 and with pretty much any team, but particularly Hungary, I could post double digit wins all the way to the final - record being in the 20's. When I play it again I just can't find the same flow I used to have where, with 3 kicks, I could usually get it in the exact place in the box where my forward would head it in every time. Same with NHLPA93, FIFA95 and so on. Yet I can roll back to PES6 and score endless goals.

I got that odd bundle with my Spectrum +3. It really was a weird collection of stuff. Thankfully I also got Short Circuit & The Great Escape in the box too which redeemed it a little.

My brother and l played out an entire World Cup on Match Day ll. Not just the Finals, l mean playing every single qualifying match across the globe! Took us ages, and l still think we ended up with 'Brazil' vs 'Argentina' in the final! Fun times! 😅

More Spectrum games should have employed this black and white colour scheme. It's so much sharper than the typical horrible colour schemes of most Spectrum games. Amstrad graphics 21/25 which is one point less than you gave Bruce Lee. Robocop's graphics are far better!
@SebsPlaceYT5 күн бұрын
The point system is difficult (which is why I ditched it) as too many people disagree with something or other 😁
@MrAdriaxe5 күн бұрын
Amstrad 22/25 for graphics? It's one of the worst looking games I owned on the CPC!
@SebsPlaceYT5 күн бұрын
Ah come on! It looks fairly close to the original! 😁

English reviewers consistently rate Spectrum versions above Amstrad versions, which I find incredible. To call the Amstrad version dated when the Spectrum version is in four colour mode is just crazy imo.
@SebsPlaceYT5 күн бұрын
Yeah, it was just the overall package though. Not as polished as the spectrum version despite the systems hardware being able to do so much more! Cheers for the comment though, all opinions are more than welcome 😁

I had the BBC version and IIRC after level 2 it would just reset the computer. I remember back then thinking seemed incomplete. Either way, I didn't care as it was the few arcade ports on the system.

This was a brilliant game on the mighty C64...and was one of the very few games that I actually completed - or rather, could be completed. There was something enormously satisfying about saving those hostages. I am surprised at the Amstrad effort...I would have expected something at least as good as the Spectrum version. How they thought that strange, delayed scrolling was acceptable, I will never know. 😂

You should have play the Thomson MO5 port, it's like the ZX port, but without sound and even slower than the CPC port. Jumping take FOUR SECONDS to achieve (10 if the screen is scrolling). I don"t remember getting to stage 2, it was so boring and frustrating. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ-2mn6Ah9qsrKc

Some absolute shockers here. Games like Kosmik Pirate seem to be a straight up attempt by the publisher to steal people's money...shameful. The fact that the blurb on the cassette says the game 'provides unending enjoyment' is even more insulting. Fun to watch you trawl through 'em though!😄

I never placed MD2 that much, I also found it (as a kid) tricky to win at. The original however I was a bit of a wiz at, and I think it was my favourite (not that I'm a big footy fan). Those red socks and that slow strut were iconic. But and its a big but, you deffo have an interest in but(t)s

The speccy version’s good, but the best version of this game is on the C64 - more colour & kick options. Play it on an emulator at twice the normal speed & it’s a really good little football game. I still play it at least once a week.
@SebsPlaceYT9 күн бұрын
Nice, I'll try that!
@MaxSpender9 күн бұрын
@@SebsPlaceYT Please do. Another good thing about the C64 version is that the players are a bit smaller, so you have a little more time & space on the ball to put together passes. It’s not quite as frantic as the spec version.
