Everything sounds incredible! I love analogue, just one question... How do you convert it to digital? Why did you have to convert the analog master to MP3 to be on KZbin, do you use any DAW and interface in the chain?
@andypickeringmusic7 күн бұрын
Hey mate thanks for the compliment 😁 Not sure what you mean "why" I had to convert the analogue master to MP3 to be on KZbin? I said MP3 in the video but meant WAV file 😂 Yes I just record out of the tape machine through an interface into DAW..If you liked this video you should watch the finished version of this song kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXjdY6mfmrF-pq8si=HmWFxjOt5p44FDeK
@dylanmcqueen46567 күн бұрын
@@andypickeringmusic Thanks for your response friend, I will watch and listen to the video, it is surely something worth it! And yes that's what I meant, you record everything on tape but then you have to convert it to digital WAV to upload it to KZbin.😊 But then you go from tape to DAW through the track-by-track interface and mix digitally? Or 1.analog mixes 2. Do you make a Stereo analog master and then send that master to the DAW to convert it into Digital? If so, I suppose I can then individually transfer each track from the tape (in this case 8 channels) to the DAW and mix there also in digital, right? Do you have an email to ask a question? Thank you, greetings from Germany

Hello Andy, It sounds very nice, greetings from Germany. I work with Universal Audio interfaces and some external preamps. But I love the sound of the Tape. Here I have the possibility of buying a 16-channel Tascam MSR 16. I know it may be subjective but I read some bad comments there about the sound, but do you think it sounds overnight between the Tascam 38 and the MSR 16? They sell me a msr 16 for 800Eur with recent service or a Tascam 38 for 1000Eur. Any recommendation? One might think, 16 channels and cheaper! but I don't know, I prefer less canale and better sound. :)
@andypickeringmusic7 күн бұрын
Hey, I mean it'll sound cool I'm sure but that'll be double the tracks of the 8 track on the same width tape, so probably won't be as full as the 38. Having said that, I don't have experience with that machine!

I would argue that tracks without a big budget can still have big production values. But I’m all about the texture of recording, and have always preferred recording with a bit of humanity. Doesn’t matter if it’s computerised or portastudio as long as it has an interesting sound, and let’s not forget, a great song!

Definitely do your own thing. It’s more relaxed and yeah, there is super high-quality. There is mid quality and low quality so the question is if you’ve got a great book great story which one is better the paperback or the hardbound it’s both the same great story and in today’s Society, we’ve had music quality to the extreme and it’s more acceptable Recording music say on a four track Cassette Porter Studio then it would’ve been years ago. John Mellencamp had a number one song in Americana on the album he cut on a mono Apex recorder no mixer just one mic straight in.He bought it from eBay. I remember buying that album at Walmart when I saw the CD wrapped in a Ziploc bag with staples on it. I said I gotta get that.
