I don't think it is SG is rich, as in the majority of the people are not, but there isn't much of a choice for the locals here as we are not allowed to even go over to JB to buy back as it is illegal to do so. So with a limited competition, seems like everything goes up especially during festive season like Chinese New Year. I bought a whole roast duck for S$40 in Dec 2024 but right now in Jan 2025, it has become S$48. This is from a heartland's coffeeshop stall. Hopefully the Parliament debate in Jan 2025 on this Food Safety and Security Bill will relax the ban and we can at the very least buy bak kwa from JB.

We never know, as long as you know you are not being rude or funny. That is all that matters, Just take the food and smile. and not let anyone affect you. I don't think it is just towards young people, it can happen to anyone or any age. I got my fair share of rude weird people. Just ignore and focus on being happy. Life is too short to let others affect us. We just share happiness and ignore rude people. @louischen2109 The sitting arrangements is not only similar to food court, but it is to many other buffets too, my guess is, just like food court, it is to cater for mass market. So it needs to pack as many people as possible so as to maximized the sitting capacity with a given floor area. Visually it is ok. but I would say food capital does have a bigger food area than a number of other mass market buffet. Plus the high celling does helps to give a perception of space. The main attraction is the ice-cream and some of the cooked items, if you don't fancy those items and just want a good time eating self cooked food, steamboat or any of the self cooked varieties will be more value for money as they no need to have someone to cook the items. This is more like a restaurant level prices, for lower cost, you have to go to hawker food centre, where the prices are much lower.

my guess will be that the prices per pax is kept lower by having a 90mins buffet, this allows them to keep having customer coming in and out while the food doesn't change. Unlike in a hotel buffet where it is limited by the number of tables and just 2 time slots of Lunch and Dinner.

@jessical7083 Yes, the Swensen's Unlimited at Changi Airport T2 also have the 90 min limit. They are basically the same, food wise, opening hours, and even the prices are the same. The main difference is the location, with VivoCity, it is much closer to many of the local population and it has a much better dining view. (Changi Airport T2 has no windows and no views)

Yes, like there are 48 Flavours of Ice-cream and Gelato, so so many to try. But what is not a lot is Time. That is not Unlimited, so do your homework and just focus to eat what you like. 😅

Totally understand how you feel. So unfair, but it could also be a matter of luck, as I had said in the earlier video at Changi Airport T2 Swensen's Unlimited that they depended on the few staff that have to constantly monitor which table is times up by manually checking on the receipt. So there are chances that they will missed some. They could have a system to keep track of which table are up easily but didn't. Alternatively, you could just carry on eating by not returning to the table. Just take a small portion and eat standing. Yes, it's stressful. As you have said, just pay more for hotel buffet and enjoy slow and peaceful buffet. 😂

Swensen's is here for business, as of now, even with the 90 mins time limit, there are still lots of people queuing up. unless business is bad and they will have to either reduce price or increase timing to attract more business. But due to the T2 unlimited being so popular, they have now open another unlimited at vivocity and increased their weekday prices, So I doubt they will increase the 90mins as increasing means they will have less capacity per day which means less profit. Don't get upset with it, just go and enjoy what they have. Cheers...

For that price, quality and quantity of food ppl should be very happy and 90 mins is sufficient and ample time to enjoy your meal without any complaints, unless you want to chit chat...Shalom❤

When I called them, they told me maybe just some slight changes of dishes, but when I went there for both Lunch and Dinner, it is basically the same. maybe you get curry chicken instead of rendang beef, or you may get the slider burger instead of the mini hotdog.. But the number of dishes are the same. Same goes for the ice creams. May have slight changes depending on stock of the flavour but it will alway have 48 flavours of ice-creams.

And I choose this, it is called "Electronic". As for heart rate, steps, its pretty good. What apple watch tends to win from what I understand is their sleep tracking. Kway pie tee can add anything you want, can take the prawns from the seafood on ice, or even try roast beef kway pie tee. that is the beauty of buffet, we can mix and match any way we like. As for the chef, give him time, maybe it was his first time doing the carving station. after a while, he will be much better. 😀

As long as we find value in it, we are happy and feel satisfied. Buffet works by volume, so the food price is lowered with higher volume(lower margin but higher income via higher volume). That maybe why they need to do a 90min buffet continuously running non stop so they can have higher volume to offset the food price. So win win , they happy, we happy. 😊☺
