These prices are insane. I know SG is rich, but I can't imagine the majority could afford them.

@Runrunshaw100 Agreed with you that the prices are insane. I don't think it is SG is rich, as in the majority of the people are not, but there isn't much of a choice for the locals here as we are not allowed to even go over to JB to buy back as it is illegal to do so. So with a limited competition, seems like everything goes up especially during festive season like Chinese New Year. I bought a whole roast duck for S$40 in Dec 2024 but right now in Jan 2025, it has become S$48. This is from a heartland's coffeeshop stall. Hopefully the Parliament debate in Jan 2025 on this Food Safety and Security Bill will relax the ban and we can at the very least buy bak kwa from JB.
