Hey Paul & Michelle, We're new to your channel. Looks like youve been testing Maude for a bit now. Have you had any issues with the Fiat motor. We're looking at getting our motor home early next year for the big lap. We just know what make or motor would be best for reliability. Any advice would be appreciated. 🥂🍻
@passynbyАй бұрын
@anthonylane9547 Hi Anthony, Firstly thank you for visiting our channel...glad to have you aboard 🙂 Regards your question, we are very happy with the Fiat motor and have not had any issue with it as yet (hopefully I have not jinxed us). We have found it a very pleasant motor to drive and overall are happy with it. Takes a bit to get use to the European set up though (still turn on the wipers mistakenly at times 😉).

How did you manage to fit the levellers in with the overall weights ? We thought about it but would take us over 4500 kgs
@passynbyАй бұрын
@MsMancans We took the extra 85 kgs into consideration too. So we really went through each cupboard and storage areas and just minimalised everything. For example, reduced my (Michelle) clothes by 6 kgs, got rid of extra manchester, concertina door, etc. We also had the original stabilisers removed. We're under weight. It can be achieved - just take what is absolutely necessary. 😀

Why did you remove the concertina door?
@passynby2 ай бұрын
Kate, we found that with a curtain it adds extra movement area in the bathroom due not bumping into a hard concertina door all the time. There is also the weight issue....Curtains are a lot lighter than the door. Cheers Paul

Good video. Just by coincidence this year I have installed both these jobs, the jacks on my van and a diesel heater for a friends caravan. They are both pretty hard jobs but worth it. The jacks we are still learning to use best, and intend to get some pads as well just to help the levelling flexibility on more sloppy ground.

Hi. We have put curtains in the same places and they work so well, whether it’s hot or cold. I really don’t know why they use those bulky/ heavy concertina doors. We actually put in permanent pole’s which can double as hanging for damp or wet washing at those times when the rain seems never ending. Safe travels 🫶
@passynby3 ай бұрын
Hi ya, I believe Jayco are now doing the curtains as an optional extra (don't quote on that because I'm not entirely sure). Dual purpose rods - good idea!! Thanks. Safe travels too.

love the curtains, certainly is a weight saver...what was the reason you selected the hydraulic Redfoot system, rather than the electric system... enjoy your lap around...
@passynby3 ай бұрын
Thank you! And yes, every kilo counts. We were advised by Redfoot that if in our travels we were staying mostly in caravan parks then go with the electric system. But if we were to be more off grid (which we will be) then go with the hydraulic system as it caters for uneven surfaces because each foot is independent. Hope this helps 😀
@Maddtrippin-bz5vq3 ай бұрын
@@passynby cheers for that....

Hi. Do you need to park on a very level ground to enable functional use of slide out? How good is the 9 speed Auto transmission? What is GVM? Do you do much off grid camping? Cameron
@passynby3 ай бұрын
Hi Camh, Slight slopes are ok however we try and park on ground that is level....you want to be comfortable walking around inside. It is recommended that you use the slideout on as close to level as possible otherwise you may run the risk of the slideout going out of square. 9speed auto is great and is a very smooth rise. GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass which is the maximum weight the vehicle can be at any one time. We try and do as much off grid as we can. We are totally self sufficient so we try and make use of it as much as we can. Thanks for the interest. Cheers

Just had a response from Michelin through the Jayco group . Apparently the originals are a special Motorhome tyre marked “CP” which are designed to run at 80 psi . For vehicles stood still for a while under weight!! I will forward letter to your facebook. So they are fine and legal .
@passynby5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info Mitchell. I cannot remember seeing the "CP" marking, however, will not deny it was there. It was our choice to change the tyres and we feel that Maude drives a lot smoother now. The main point we are making is for everyone to check their own tyres and make their own decision as to what direction they take.
@SteveAMcPherson5 ай бұрын
Wow! What does Jayco have to say? That's some "mishap" 😢

Steve, not a Jayco issue. It is a Fiat issue. Jayco look after the home portion whereas Fiat are the motor part. We had the service done at a mechanic here in Newcastle..."C Our Mechanics" highly recommend these guys, they are very thorough and take the time to answer any questions asked.
