Very interesting. With respect, it’s not helpful to say “consult a breathing specialist” when many of us do not have access to that resource for various reasons.

And who's this? Some nameless wanna be influencer who wants to gain views. John Mew said it that mew works even after age of 25. He's a doctor. and this dude? 😂 Plus check the photos of the old people you know and you'll see that facial structures change even if you're an adult.

As someone who works with PAP patients from all over the world, I’ve seen firsthand how techniques like Buteyko breathing can lead to significant improvements in sleep-disordered breathing. There’s definitely something to it. Since you’re already watching Jawhacks videos, many of you have probably come across Nestor's book Breath-but if not, I highly recommend it. It’s full of powerful examples that show just how transformative the way we breathe can be. I think Ron will have Lisa Kusch on soon? As will I. Stay the course my friends.

really? why? how does it help airway and tongue issues?
@CPAPfriend

@@ocoro174 As one example, you can learn to breathe more lightly, which translates to less negative pressure, which translates to potentially less collapsibility

Nocturia is the nighttime need to urinate. I used to wake up to pee five or more times a night. I had nose surgery to correct a deviated septum and underwent turbinate reduction. This significantly reduced my nocturia and improved my sleep. The key mechanisms are: 1. Increased Respiratory Effort (RERAs & UARS) - A deviated septum / enlarged turbinates restricts nasal airflow, forcing you to breathe through your mouth or work harder to inhale. This increases respiratory effort-related arousals (RERAs) and disrupts deep sleep. The strain on the respiratory muscles can also increase negative intrathoracic pressure. 2. Increased Atrial Natriuretic Peptide (ANP) Release - The negative intrathoracic pressure from labored breathing (as seen in UARS or mild OSA) stretches the heart’s atria. This triggers the release of ANP, a hormone that signals the kidneys to excrete more sodium and water, leading to increased urine production at night. 3. Frequent Arousals & Sympathetic Overdrive - Fragmented sleep from airway resistance keeps the nervous system in a heightened sympathetic state. This increases blood pressure and fluid redistribution, further contributing to nocturnal diuresis. Some people, including myself, may benefit from breathing in warm, humidified air from a CPAP nasal mask for about 20 minutes before bed as part of their nighttime routine. In my experience, this helps reduce turbinate swelling and improve nasal congestion, especially when dryness or mild inflammation is a factor. If you don’t want to wear the CPAP all night, you can simply use it for this short period to decongest your nose, then remove the mask and sleep without the machine. However, if congestion is due to untreated upper airway resistance or improper CPAP settings, additional adjustments may be needed for lasting relief.

What is 'the norm'? What is 'overadvanced'? How do we cross the unknown line?

NORMS are adding up the length of your teeth to include wisdom teeth, and width to where the tmj isn't affected negatively aka pressure issues, ringing ears, popping, breathing volume etc...

I'm 21 years old and I started smoking at 19, very much so here and there at first but it progressed into a pretty tough addiction, I didn't notice much lack of sleep but it cooked my appetite and a lot of my personal relationships for awhile. Weed stimulates the hunger hormone and when you're smoking all day everyday for a decent amount of time your body starts to think it doesn't need to produce that hormone anymore because it is getting so much of it through external sources (weed). Either way I think it's a self control issue and I didn't have good self control during that time so I'm on a break right now and after only 4 days of not smoking I feel so much better already (besides my appetite is still mid).

What's overadvancement ? What's the treshold ? The level of forward growth from ancient humans (10000+ years ago) is way way above the current norm Maybe Taylor James would match that but that's about it (and the remaining tribes of today)

Hey, I've been thinking about getting a tongue-tie release. Is it okay if I skip seeing a myrofunctional therapist and just follow post-surgery exercises from KZbin? I had the surgery once when I was 15, and now I'm 21, but it reconnected, . My biggest fear is the tongue reconnecting again and having to go through the surgery a third time. Myrofunctional therapy is quite expensive, and since I'm in a foreign country, communication wouldn't be smooth. I would really appreciate it if you reply!

Is DISE usually covered by health insurance? Also, if a person undergoes DISE, and if it shows that there’s a narrow airway and the tongue is slipping back, for example, does it help to get MMA advancement surgery for sleep apnea?

I’m hoping to get the surgery at the age of 60 for my sleep apnea… But because my sleep apnea is caused by multifaceted reasons, I think it’ll only be partially effective. I believe I’d have to get my palate widened, too, in order to accommodate the width my tongue. I however, I do not want to have to wear braces, again. I really wouldn’t care if there was a big gap between my two front teeth…..
