When the Lake is at normal water levels, it has emergent grass beds pretty much around the whole lake. The last time I was up there (fall or 2023) the water level was starting to come up after being real low much of the year. Low enough that most of the grass beds never came in last year.. But when the water lever in normal or close to with grass beds it stays fairly clear. And the fishing just like any lake is so much better when it has grass. Have hosted 3-4 small tournaments on it over the years and fished a few small open/jackpots. If I remember right, it took 18-23 lbs for 5 fish limits for the top 3 in most of them. Fished one 3 fish limit, short 6 hour tournament in early july and I finished 2nd with 14.67 lbs on 3 and I think 1st had close to 17 lbs on 3. Biggest I personally caught there was a little over 7-1/2 . But it is like any other place. It can be on fire, or it will make you really think about finding another hobby. And I'm actually will be heading up there in a couple of hours. Hopefully I will be able to update this that it treated me good...

I've used the block of wood technique to get home. Luckily I had a couple of tie straps to put around the 2x4. Drove back to Kentucky from Maryland that way! One additional tip: Don't smoke the rear bolts down. The shackles are there to help relieve stiffness in the springs. It helps reduce tension on the leaf springs so it doesn't snap! The point is that the shackles need to travel. Another would be do not tighten the shackle bolts until you've set the tires on the ground. (and bounce the load up and down) It would be a good idea to tow the boat around for a bit so everything sits well. Then button it down.

Use the best snug fitting screwdriver to prevent problems. Keep new seals on hand, I buy a 6 pack at a time. They are crush washers, usually only good for a time or two, any question - replace them. Some replace them every time, your choice. Keep spares!

What is the water clarity like on keystone.
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing 25 күн бұрын
All over the board. It is on the Arkansas River so typically a dirtier color in the spring with rain and quickly changing levels. Clears a bit throughout the summer when the rains slow. On average it has a light stain to it I would say… never would call it clear.

Doesn't the fish have full control over their own air bladders to control their own buoyancy almost instantly??? It seems silly to think of it as the Baro pressure is pushing them down or sucking them up toward the surface. So if the pressure drops low enough they'll be a swollen and bobbing around on the surface and you can just pick them up in a dip net. lol.

@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing When fishing deep in Saltwater I've had to "de-gas" fish to get them back down deep for release. But I've always assumed that we were just ripping them up much faster than they can adjust on their own. Never considered that it's possible that they may not have full control over their own air bladders.
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing Ай бұрын
@Rico11b in that situation, yes, it is from reeling them in quickly and they don’t have time to slowly release air. Fizzing is require in that case.

I'm brand new to bass fishing and I think this is happening to my lake here in Georgia. The area near the bank has muck and all sorts of stuff kinda floating around. Lots of large bubbles too. About 20-30 foot wide along the bank. Water is dirtier there too.

@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing That's what I thought too, but we've had kind of a drought here this summer. No rain in the last couple of weeks as well. I didn't know what it was until I started to smell the decaying smell, but it's only in certain parts of the lake. It's not the entire lake and it's mainly around the shoreline at certain parts of the lake. I could be wrong because as I said I'm new to fishing but I do know that the places I've been catching bass the bass are not there anymore and I'm having trouble finding them

It could just be the lake is very stagnant with no rain and the heat is causing algae blooms of some sort. August-early october is the toughest time to catch bass because of high water temps and low oxygen. Good luck! Good fishing is coming soon

Strange... I’ve always found the opposite fishing trout on streams. As Low pressure is setting in - go subsurface deeper. After storms have rolled through & water fills the streams with high water they tend to feed more aggressively on baitfish being washed downstream.
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing

I have little experience with trout in streams to know how they act. The colder clear water and current may have cause them to act differently than bass in lakes. Cool to hear opinions on different species, appreciate it.

You should be running your boat out on the water at different loads and speeds for better effects. Many older multi carb engines don't have idle circuits on some carbs, they may idle on just 2 cylinders, reved up they all kick in. Techron and Berrymans are also great.

Yes they are an improvement. Tilt trim is more sensitive, and without it on your boat, you were searching for it. My most recent boat did not have one, after about a year I put a Stingray on it, no going back, ever.

Thanks ! I learned something from this that can help out a buddy of mine. He’s got an 87 Ranger with Mercury 150. His tach quit working a while ago. NBD, he’s not racing anyone😂. But he’s had difficulty starting, and more often than not, trouble getting up on plane. He calls it “feathering the throttle “ but he’s not getting hardly any acceleration. Mechanics around us stink and charge crazy prices with poor actual results. He’s paid for; carb cleaning, carb synchronization, tune up ( which is probably just new plugs knowing these clowns) and other nonsense but can barely use the boat anymore. I think I’m going to pro-actively swap out his voltage regulator and try that.

@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing only thing i heard from another video that kinda make sense is if you run it in ur dirty gas tank wont that break and clean everything up and send it into the motor. whats ur thought on that part I'm thinking theirs a fuel water separator an a fuel filter in the motor which should catch most the crap I would say an maybe to change the filters after you run seafoam in dirty tanks and lines .

@PrestigeWorldwideFishing 2 ай бұрын
Seafoam in that gas tank may help break down that debris, down side of that is like you said it will send it through your motor. I always run the motor a couple times after seafoam treatments before I change my filters. Just to give it time to hopefully pass through. That’s the good and bad side of seafoam. It breaks up junk stuck in your motor and cleans it up but that stuff has to go somewhere and does get caught up in your fuel filters.
