Hi there, this is a great video. Compared to other HO videos, these cars are running much slower (I like it), how come? slower motors or less voltage, please?

2024 here. I have no idea how this video got into my feed. AFX was a big part of my childhood. If I had this under the tree for Xmas, I was good to go. I definitely would have aged into the larger scale cars that the adults raced, but it felt like the scene had disappeared. I think my favorite car was called the Grey Ghost. It looked like a two door long body Rolls Royce. Completely in awe of that car when I was a kid .

Do you notice when a tyco etc power pack is used on a 2 lane, that the power is used/shared on both controllers? zapping the power back and forth. I made a few tracks where I broke the connection and gave each lane its own power pack using 2 power connection tracks, I per lane, am I making since? :P

Brian H They stick to the track more because of the exposed magnets on the bottom. They are basically T-Jets but with more downforce

That is a very sweet set up. I have a four lane track at my home on a 4 X 10 table that I made. I am currently working on the scenery. I have close to 150 cars at the moment. I am currently working on the scenery for the track. Thanks for posting.

A note on BRUSH springs for everyone. A lot of time the brush springs are collapsed or just not made or setting to the correct height for maximum efficiency. . They should be spread out again; expanded;. If this is the situation, they should sit almost to the top of the hole. to do this I use a piece of tape on a hard surface(the ends folded over so it will stick to the surface) to help lightly hold the spring on its round side so a blade can be inserted between the coils at each end and then spread to about 3/16-1/4 " then re-check the height inserted into the holes. If too tall, just compress them a tad by sitting them on the hard surface and gently compress with any flat sided implement. I use the butt end of an X-acto knife or even a 9 volt battery or anything similar. PICKUP SPRINGS -- Sometimes these springs are TOO TALL and create too much tension on the shoes and push the chassis away from the track and cause a lot of de-slotting. Simply remove and compress them similar to the above method, then adjust to get the shoe slot end to sit about an 1/8 - 3/16" from the retaining tab. (top of the shoe, now upside down of course, at the top of the slot) which will be about half the height of the guide pin. adjust shoe to sit flat on the rails most of it's length til about the front of the spring pockets. Mark the shoe its length with an ink marker then run to see the wear pattern then adjust accordingly.

an extra..if the armature is really oily and dirty, maybe get a can of electrical spray and spray the gunk out from under the gears-bottom pinion gear also. re-oil it.

Niiice Track! I have many custom H.O. cars built from BSRT parts and Aurora. I'm looking for a track to race them on. I live in the Redondo Beach Ca area. Do you know of any tracks in this area?

Just getting back into HO cars after being away 30+ years. Is there a benefit for changing the guide pin to metal vs the plastic? Less drag?
@artsmart077 жыл бұрын
mzondi1970..the main benefit is the metal ones might fit tighter and may not wobble..other than that, not much difference..it all depends on your preference and slot depth. you can squeeze the Jaws if your original guide pins are loose or wobble- do NOT glue them.

Just recently got back into slot cars and had some catching up to do, so I got a hold of a 70's Aurora A/FX chassis and a AW X-Traction to tear apart and re-build and learn on. These videos were infinitely helpful. Thanks a lot.

i figured out most of this stuff when i was a kid, 8-9 yrs old, over 40 yrs ago. it really helped when i gunked up the insides from over oiling or using dish soap on the track to do burn outs. lol but all these little tricks helped beat my friends cars of future races. Im surprised they still sell the slotted race tracks, but glad they do since i have kids and grandchildren. thanks for sharing the info

The problem is it has to be kept a secret because young people today are not like the seventies variety,. they have no appreciation, and will steal and destroy. DO NOT SHOW KIDS ANYTHING OF VALUE THAT CANNOT BE REMOVED ON SHORT NOTICE.
