2024 here. I have no idea how this video got into my feed. AFX was a big part of my childhood. If I had this under the tree for Xmas, I was good to go. I definitely would have aged into the larger scale cars that the adults raced, but it felt like the scene had disappeared. I think my favorite car was called the Grey Ghost. It looked like a two door long body Rolls Royce. Completely in awe of that car when I was a kid .

Just recently got back into slot cars and had some catching up to do, so I got a hold of a 70's Aurora A/FX chassis and a AW X-Traction to tear apart and re-build and learn on. These videos were infinitely helpful. Thanks a lot.

Just getting back into HO cars after being away 30+ years. Is there a benefit for changing the guide pin to metal vs the plastic? Less drag?

mzondi1970..the main benefit is the metal ones might fit tighter and may not wobble..other than that, not much difference..it all depends on your preference and slot depth. you can squeeze the Jaws if your original guide pins are loose or wobble- do NOT glue them.

Does Magnatraction help or is it just a gimmick?

Brian H They stick to the track more because of the exposed magnets on the bottom. They are basically T-Jets but with more downforce
