Most successful songwriting duo. Ever. More so than The Beatles of Lennon & McCartney. Word.

The verse melody is very reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot’s “if you could read my mind.” Not enough for a lawsuit or anything, but enough to make me want to go listen to that song.

Wow, the combination of instrumentals is at the time was so fantastic to make iconic music. The drummer, the harmonization of two singers and background harmony, BEAUTIFUL 😮😢❤❤❤❤❤

My favorite version of The First Noel". Daryl Hall & John Oates have made so many fantastic records that I have really enjoyed since 1972! This Christmas album is top notch! They put a soulful feel into every song they've written and / or have sung, since day one. Their music legacy will live on forever.

I know this record. Its from that yellow one...dont even know what the title was. Guess it must be from 2003 or so...but I mean...yeah, this is that AOL shit you release after being a musician for 50 years... I mean its not bad, guess Bill named it because its something newer...the Intro is some kind of cool but then it gets into the reason why Clive wasnt impressed by change of the season. Wasnt that the record that - more or less - quit their career as we knew it? Guess that was no easy time for them. I really love Hall and Oates...I grew up with them like water or air...they are part of my all favs top 10 Bands. I mean, my father got me into them in the late 80ies early 90ies when I was so small that I could barely even stand by my own (3 or 4) but when I got into my 20ies I discovered all the early 70ies stuff...and I was just like 😮 WOW... WHAT THE...and went big time into Todd Rundgren and stuff like that. That felt as strong when I discovered Ben Folds, Elliott Smith, early 90ies post punk music,, Hip Hop when I was 14... you have those rare moments when something touches you deep inside like falling in love for the first time or the moment you recordnize you really get better and better with playing the guitar. I deeply felt sorry for Hall and Oates "business friendship" when I heard about a year ago that John wanted to sell some of their Estate/music rights and I totally understand Daryl that he wasnt amused by that idea at ALL. I love that sentance in that video were he said "people are in love with the idea that their heros are friends". All said. 😄🤗🎉😇🥰 nevertheless to both of them, John and Daryl: thank you for everything. Hope you can look in each others faces once more without any greeve or hateric. I wish you a long and healthy life...and maybe one last mindbottleing album from you at least. 😊

In the days when it was nearly all but over for the hits in the UK.. and Daryls voice was still there.. sadly, the songs got worse. ( bland boring dull...whatever) and as we get older things dont work as well as they once did . To my mind it would be better for Daryl to stop live performances.his voice has gone its terrible. I'd rather watch old vids .cos ya ripping off punters singing like ya do now Daryl. 😢

Beautiful song. I have been a fan since 1981. It all started with "I can't go for that." That song has such an attraction. And the journey started from then on. I'm still a big fan. The best duo on earth. The best there was, the best there is, and the best will ever be. Ladies and gentlemen: That is Daryl Hall and John Oates. ❤

I am not ignoring you, or rejecting you. I'm just moving in a new direction. Feel free to do your own thing without me. I will survive. I'm doing fine I guess. Your birthday is coming up, I'll try to stop by. I think Sammy has plans for you then. Have fun. Meet new friends. I do care about you. Always.
