Thank you. I'm trying to get into voice acting and this has helped. You make things sound much simpler than when I read them online. Your video on XLR cables has really brought me up to speed on those, though I'm still figuring out exactly what an audio interface is used for. Either way, thanks for the help!

I don't understand what the Render option is doing. Does the render level reflect what the mesh object would look like if it was exported out into a game engine like Godot?

Sorry, I don't know of any way to send the backups to a separate folder. It just defaults to whatever folder the main file is in. Perhaps there is some plugin or something that someone has made to do that, but I don't know of any.

why do i not have the option for GGX and the Random Walk in blender???
@ltfilm
@ltfilm 3 ай бұрын
In the new versions of Blender, the principled BSDF was revamped and those options were moved under the subsurface and specular subcategories. I guess they decided it would make more sense to have them under the heading of the property it would most affect, rather then out on the top level where it's less clear what it is actually doing.

hi, amazing tutorial and explanation! thank you so much for sharing! for some reason when I got to the part where you added Map range and value & math nodes, it didn't give the same effect which you got with purple and yellow bands showing through. The only way I was able to get a similar effect was either by plugging the Fresnel Factor node into Mix RGB or by removing the Mix RGB node, which then results in the colour range that you display in the video. but I can't understand why a Mix colour node would disrupt it, or why you would add it in the first place.
@ltfilm
@ltfilm 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching it! I'm afraid I don't quite understand the setup you're describing. I don't believe I connected the Map range and value/math nodes to the mix RGB. They should connect to the IOR input of the refraction BSDF. The mix RGB is there to correct the darkening that happens when connecting the color ramp to the color input of the refraction BSDF. I can't remember if I had a reason why 1.55 was the value for the mix RGB or if I just figured it out by trial and error. If you have any more questions or just want me to elaborate on anything further, let me know!

Yes, I believe you can use it for bump mapping. But not for displacement. It gives really weird results if you do that, so make sure you don’t mix them up!

So does it matter for me When i watch video and image or play game on smart phone with 10 bit display is enough or 12 bit better?
@ltfilm
@ltfilm 7 ай бұрын
It would really depend on the content you’re viewing. An 8-bit video signal doesn’t benefit from being displayed on a 10 bit or higher monitor, but a 10-bit signal on an 8-bit monitor will lose some of the nuances that differentiate the 10-bit signal. However, true 10-bit consumer displays are somewhat rare and expensive. 8+2 bit monitors are more common, but are only imitating true 10-bit. (That’s a whole rabbit hole in itself.) And as far as I know, there aren’t any 12-bit consumer displays available. If any exist, they would fall firmly under the “professional” category and cost many thousand dollars. Tldr: Figure out what bit depth the media you’re consuming is at and get a display that matches that. 8-bit displays are probably good enough. 10-bit will provide a noticeably better experience, but are also noticeably more expensive. 12-bit for all intents and purposes doesn’t exist for you and me.

Hi, neat video man! I want to ask, would you know how well a Zoom F8n Pro would fit in this bag? I know the bag is rated to accommodate the F8 but the F8 is taller than the MixPre. In this video you have your Lectrosonics wireless receivers directly on top of your MixPre in the bag's main compartment, if it were a F8 instead would this all still fit? Cheers! - 🐧
@ltfilm

I don’t imagine it would fit with the receivers on top. The F8N pro is 0.7 inches taller than the MixPre, and the receivers are already a tight fit.

Too often we're carrying far too much weight on spines due to our heavy mixing bag while booming at the same time, it's important to also have lightweight bags too.
