Some honest thoughts here, as a father of two young boys.. 1) how messed up does a family have to be (trying to not only blame the mother) to not let the child get to know his biological father? Why would they want to rob him of this?? 2) 16 is sooo young and I could sit here and say “I would have done this and this” differently to get access to my son, which by the way, I WOULD have, I also can’t imagine doing all that as a teenager… can’t judge the immaturity component. I didn’t even feel ready to have kids till I was in 30s! 3) the kid needed his father sooner. Building a “big life” and then inviting him in at some point in the future, that is not what fatherhood is about. Thankfully, this turned out really well for you, but others aren’t so lucky. 4) the reunion was a happy one, yet you can see it wasn’t that father-son emotion, it was that of two buddies. But that will just take time. 5) this is a great ending to an unfortunate beginning. I’m glad you guys were able to connect and both want to build your relationship up!

God works in great ways. I wish my son's dad was alive. Like you the last time they saw each other was when my boy was three months old. He passed away before he could make it back to us.

I hope it all works out for you both, but trying to build an empire while missing your son’s formative years is not a very wise trade. A boy needs his dad above all else. I don’t know the whole story and I’m not trying to pass judgment, but you missed so much time. Use the time from here forward to build what hasn’t been. He may have some resentment. Just remember life can take quick turns while you are making plans. You never know what you are going to face from day to day. Focus on the people who need you, especially your own flesh and blood and put money lower down on the list of importance. You should do everything in your power to be a dad from here on out and that includes relocating to where he is if you truly want to be build a father son relationship. A father is the closest thing a young man can have to his creator. You were made in the image of God and your son was as well. The most important job a man can have is being a father. When you get to the end of your days, the things that will really matter are the people in your life and mostly the ones who are part of you. Again this is not about judgment it’s about what is truly important. All the things you can obtain materially in this world will mean nothing in the end.

I just found your channel. I have a 16 year old boy whose dad abandoned him for another woman and had another baby and just cut my son off for no reason no contact no maintenance just no interaction to nurture a relationship and this really harmed my son. I'm trying my best to help my boy who has closed of his emotions and I found out recently his self harming himself. I'm glad you both love each other and found each other. What hurt me is that my son's dad made contact about three years ago and then abandoned my child his son for a second time. Then recently he popped up again saying he misses him etc. I'm afraid to expose my fragile child to him now as his mental capacity may not be able to handle another abandonedment.

Okay he was 16 but this is the perfect example of double standards. A father can leave with little judgement, "he was immature" it's accepted in our society but if a mother leaves it's unthinkable. How could she? People are outraged, she's an horrible person. So mothers faces raising a child alone very often. I would be curious to read the comments if a mom would make a similar video. As the child of a single mother who suffered because my father left when I was a baby (they were 21 when she got pregnant) I can't believe we're glamorizing fathers leaving in this video and in these comments. I am disgusted. You guys don't understand what it does permanently to a child's mental health.

Greetings from Germany. I remember, when I met my father for the first and only time in my life. It wasn't that pleasent. Sadly, he was never interested in me. We met in front of a judge, because he wanted to stop child support. Only once he looked at me. Just once. That was the day, I knew, that I didn't have a father. Just a creator who wanted nothing to do with me. Today I am 42 years old. I have learned to live with this. But I am so happy, that you two guys are so happy to meet each other. I wish you all the best. Much love from Germany.
