The Eos R is a mini Canon 5d mk iv, a beast of a camera. Unless you absolutely need 4k full frame, there is no need for anything "better".

@TheNewArtSchool The only issue with the EOS R is that it has the worst focusing and focus-tracking of all the R-series FF cameras. The focus feels ancient after using anything current, and the face/eye detection doesn't work from anywhere near as far away. No animal tracking either. The 30MP don't seem to add any extra 'detail', they just give a larger image (which 99% of the time will be shrunk down for social media anyway). A friend of mine had the R and R7 and had to get rid of one to pay some bills. He sold the R because the only thing it had over the R7 was ISO performance. In every other way the R7 killed it. He couldn't give up the speed, vastly superior AF, dual card slots, in-camera focus stacking, panorama, improved HDR mode, IBIS, sensor-shift horizon-levelling etc. of the R7.

@@cooloox It depends what you are doing with it. Its not for sports and wildlife photographers but perfect for everything else. It also depends what you are used to. I have shot weddings with the 5d mkII without any issue. The R7 particularly has a tiny battery with terrible battery life.If you started on the 5d mkI, then you would be really grateful for the Eos R :)

I own these two cameras paired with some nice glass EF 100mm L, 70-200 IS, Zeiss Otus 85 and RF 24-105 F4, I love both. EOS R color is my favorite ever, but when I need to track cars, animals or action in general I go with the R8, also R8 sensor is super high definition it's quite impressive... For portraits the R is my go to all the way. I don't shoot video.

Nice to hear! Yeah, it's a great camera. The backstage footage was shot with the 35mm f1.8 and a gimbal, the only handheld shot was the closing part when I shot Patricia, and that was with 50mm.

I had the 5DIV for quite a while then got the R. I loved the R for its autofocus, size and video. The IQ was a step down from the 5DIV despite supposedly having the same sensor. A bit more noise and sometimes banding on the R in the shadows, but I shoot a lot of low light stuff. For most things you might never tell a difference. I sold all my gear before the lockdowns, then got the R8's big brother, the R6 II last year and man it's so nice. The IQ is better in extreme situations than the R, and the autofocus, video and overall speed of the camera is light years better than the R. But for portraits in daylight like this, I bet there is very little difference. Love your videos.

@@whosyourbrad Hahah, yeah. The R5 II was supposed to have been released 3x over the past 2.5 years. That's why I gave up and got the R6 II instead... plus I saved a lot of money, enough to buy a new 70-200 2.8 III IS lens!

tengo 1Ds mark III y siento que son muchísimo más nítidas que las que tomo ahora con la eos R, aparte de la nitidez también veo muchísima diferencia en el manejo de iso, antes tuve Nikon D810 que usaba en iso 2500 sin nada de ruido y está eos R apenas con iso 1000 ya veo un ruido desagradable, habrá alguna manera de mejorar eso? estoy que me devuelvo a Nikon D810 o Canon 5D mk3 que ya las.he tenido y son super nítidas y sin ruido en isos altos como 4000 o 5000

Same experience for me with EF vs RF glass on my R5. I started with EF and adapter, but too many not so sharp or missed focus issues. Switched to RF and it was much better. The RF 24-70 2.8 has been amazing for me.

I don’t have any rf glass but I have noticed my images not being as sharp as they should. My rebel sl2 was almost shooting sharper than my R at times and I chalked it to me not being skilled enough with my settings. But using rf glass is the one thing I haven’t tried

Is it a good idea to sell the R and get the R8 when mostly shooting photos? Does the R8 have faster touch-focuspoint-movement than the R? the R is very slow, the R5 fast, I am angry everytime about slow setting focus point on the R.

Thanks for the comparison. When you talk about image quality from 16:38 I am not fully following due to a bit quick talking :-) but also some inconsisent comments (if my hearing is correct). You start with saying that the original R has better colors and depth? Then you mentioned the R8 being sharper. That's fine. But then you mention that with the right settings and if you use your camera correctly you can get amazing images on the R much similar to the R8. So...which is it? :-) Do you prefer the R or the R8 in terms of color and overall IQ?

I bought it a month ago and noticed the next day that when shooting 4K 60FPS there was a STCK PIXEL and I was horrified and refunded my money and got it back. The store is telling me to get another one, this is a manufacturing defect, but I was afraid and thinking about getting a Sony A73. Has anyone had the same situation?

No mechanical shutter in the R8 is a deal breaker for me. I often shoot with my portable studio lights on location and the Canon R wins with the mechanical shutter.

Decir que la bateria de la R8 es basura... no tiene ningún tipo de sellado meteorologico... realmente con lentes RF no hay diferencias de nitidez aunque el enfoque de la R8 es bastante superior...pero el de la R es suficiente para hacer retratos si eres un fotógrafo avanzado y sabes enfocar...sobre todo usando el visor 😂y los modos de enfoque y el punto, el visor de la R8 es bastante malo...y parece una cámara de plástico...en video tiene prestaciones muy buenas... pero por la diferencia de precio entre ambas teniendo en cuenta q puedes conseguir una R de segunda mano por 800 o 900 usd y el resto gastarlo en mejor cristal que un 50 1.8...como un 85 f2 macro que para retratos es mucho mejor y más nítido...no vale la pena el dinero extra por la R8... algo mas...la R es un caballo de batalla dicho por todos...la R8...es una cámara muy frágil se nota al tacto
