To my Son Brad and my Grandson Blaze. Knowing and living the whole story, this reunion, captured with the love, feeling and respect for each other brings tears of warmth and joy every time I watch your videos. This time round the tears are of joy, warmth, and healing. I am grateful that you have found each other in my lifetime, and healed and filled a massive void in my heart. My love to you both, you are both strong people and this is only the beginning of your beautiful journey. Blaze, I have missed and loved you since you were born, and the day you came to this world we were blessed with your presence. Now I too can have the pleasure of seeing you as a person rather than my memories of you as a tiny wee baby. You are much loved and the most special person xxxx. My door and my heart is forever open to you ❤❤❤ Brad, I am proud of the young man you are, and always taken by your ability to forgive, no matter how much pain you have endured. I love you forever. This is an example of this profound truth: forgiveness and love wins. Always. There is an amazing mystery in forgiveness…there is a profound love on the other side. I believe it is a deeper, unique, love given as a gift to those who fully forgive and allow God to heal and give a fresh start. What a beautiful example of forgiveness, love, a clean slate - and new beginning. I wrote a book on forgiveness and this is so beautiful. Many struggle with letting the past go - if they only knew what was waiting on the other side. May the Lord bless you immensely…I think you already know HE has. ~Kim Chadwell

As a mum of a kid being the same age around your son. His dad lives on another continent too. I would ask you to not only make it a vacation thing, write post cards whenever you can, send him trivial things like a new pencil case and annual planner when it’s the new school year, show him how to shave his beard once you’re on visit, pay interest in his school education and grades. My sons father always visits him once a year and my son is always smitten and so thankful - and it always breaks my heart, cause I know there won’t be much contact in between a birthday and Christmas card and that visit. 😢

We have a similar story. My daughter became pregnant with my grandson, and his dad had to go back to Ghana. He never actually got to see his son. Then, as we went into the 1st lockdown(covid), my grandsons mum found his dads sister on facebook. Within an hour I had a message asking if his dad could speak to his son( my grandson lives with me). We decided we would set it up the next day. Early next morning I put KZbin on and called my grandson to watch a video of a man donating food parcels to the Ghanaian police to hand out... I then explained that this special man was infact his dad... That 1st facetime was very special ... This was in the March in the October we went to Ghana to finally meet his dad. He also got to meet some very special people who were turning up just to say hello. He hasn't been able to see his dad since then, until last week when I got a phone call at 7.30 am out of the blue from his dad to say his plane had landed in the UK So at 5pm on Saturday we had his dad ringing our doorbell, I've never seen so much shock and excitement in one 15yrds face!

Hey bud, I'm 23 and am still at this stage with my biological father. He and my mom separated when I was about 7 and ever since then, despite me spending a few summer vacations with him a few times over the course of a decade, I still don't have much a relationship with him. Although he's my father, he isn't, and never will be, the man that raised me into who I am today. I don't know how your relationship with dad is, but I do know how important it is to have a connection with your biological father. To be completely honest, it never really gets easier not being close with him, but I've reached a point where I know he just isn't a part of my life anymore and I'm okay with it. Just make sure to remember that whether he's a part of your life or not, you are strong both with and without him.

Then, again, as a child herself, she chose to go home to her support system and raise him. Win #2. What do you suggest she should’ve done? If your opinion is that she should’ve left her family to stay near her son’s biological father, (a teenager himself who was not ready to provide her the support a teen mother NEEDS) then you simply do not understand the needs of a young first time mother. The most important thing for the health, safety, and wellbeing of a newborn infant, is the health, safety and wellbeing of his mother. She obviously sought out the best help she could get, with her family. I am not faulting or blaming him for choosing the support of his own mother, that was his choice. He could have chosen to stay near his son, but he didn’t. That’s OK! He was only 16! It’s completely understandable! But please don’t say she wasn’t a good mother just because she made the very best choices she could for herself and her son. That’s all she could do. She couldn’t make his father’s choices for him.

As a mother who gave birth at 16, it is a painfully young age to go through such things. You are still essentially a child and dependent on your own parents, and then you have to try to become a parent without the maturity or financial resources. Im so happy there are no ill feelings or misunderstandings about what happened, at least between you and Blaze. You and his mom both had very tough decisions to make. The greatest gift, is that you are with him now at a most crucial moment in his development, and you can be there to hold his hand and help guide him to manhood. I agree that at 16 you lack maturity, you're still a child and depends on your parents. But it's always the father that runs away and the mother faces their decisions and raise the child alone. Often with no financial help from the father. It's double standards, a father can leave with little judgement but if a mother leaves people are outraged and she's horrible & how could she do that? I would be curious to see the comments under a video of a mother meeting her child 14 years later. As the child of a single mother who suffered because my father left when I was a baby (they were 21 when she got pregnant) I can't believe we're glamorizing fathers leaving in this video and in these comments and making content of it. I am seriously disgusted.

I agree with your comment wholeheartedly about how people think they have the right to judge, this short story is one where you can only rejoice in the outcome, the long story is way to painful to dwell on. ❤❤❤❤

Yep I'm judging because this man abandoned his kid because he was in his feelings. He didn't even tell his friends he had a kid until after the little boy reached out. He lived his best life and threw his kid away and didn't even look back if this kid didn't reach out he'd still be in the trash.

A beautiful story about second chances, & taking chances. Blazes’ Mum family ought to be congratulated on raising such a kind, sincere, & genuine young man. He’s got his head screwed on. And now, Blaze has a Dad, and his family, to help guide & love Blaze on his path to becoming a young man. Irregardless of the history during young & turbulent times, to see that the sole focus of all these adults, on both sides, is on Blaze & the path going forward, is a rare but bloody beautiful sight to see. Cheess to Blaze, and to all the love & care in his yesterdays and his tomorrows.

I met my biological dad for the first time when I was already 18. Our meeting didn't go this way. I'm now 33 with a family of my own, and I rarely talk to that dude. But I'm glad you got to meet your son and you had an instant connection with him. Healing isn't for everyone, I guess, but I'm glad to see one of the instances where it worked.

My thinking kinda went from, "Woulda been nice if I had a father figure to teach me these things" to "I'm now a father as well. We're (me and that dude) practically on the same level now. No need to consult someone I barely know about things I can learn for myself." There's a lot of resentment there, for sure, but yeah. Seeing this video warms my heart and it reminds me that not everyone who grew up without a father like me will grow to become a resentful individual. Brad is a good dad, and Blaze is a good kid, and they'll figure things out together. This is beautiful.

I LOVE TO WATCH VIDEOS LIKE THIS, I AM AT THE 15-MINUTE MARK WHERE YOUR FRIENDS ARE TALKING TO BLAZE, AND I AM TRYING TO KEEP THESE TEARS FROM ESCAPING MY EYES, THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL. MY MEETING WITH MY BIO PARENTS WAS NOTHING LIKE THIS, BUT GOD, AND SO I MEAN IT FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU AND YOUR SON HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE AND FUTURE JOURNEY. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH

I can join the crowd of folks that are not sure why this showed up in my recommended videos... but I'm glad it did. So happy to see you both reconnected. The adoration in Blaze's eyes as he looks at you is priceless. And Genetics are CRAZY... the head tilt you both have is almost the identicle angle! Reminds me of how I have my dads laugh even thought I was around him much.

You've got a good lookin' boy, I can totally see you in him. I will say this, his mom seems to have done an excellent job raising such a lovely young man, so good job to mom and the family that raised him. Now it is a new day, the boy needs to have his dad in his life, and I believe his dad needs him in his life as well.

What a cutie Blaze is! And this is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever seen. The "You're the best dad I could ever ask for." 😭❤ That got me. How precious!!!

Beautiful. Keep building your bond. I dont know the circumstances or the situation that kept you both apart for 14 years. But I'm glad you both are reconnecting and building a relationship. You both deserve it.

He said in the video that the mom took the baby away at three months old and he was in court for a year (and he was only 16 years old himself.)

im 18 in 5 days now, and ive been watching KZbin a few hours a day since I was 8, and this was definitely one of the best videos I've watched. This is beautiful, this video was a pure sense of euphoria, and I will keep this saved for when I want to look back to such an amazing story. Thank you Brad. Proud of you Blaze

I had a similar story only I reached out to my son just as the Internet social media was getting going, my son was 14 and he is now 30, a grown married made, I was at his wedding to a beautiful wife and during his 30th surprise birthday I was invited by his wife, it was probably one of the best thing in my life after his birth so emotional.

I'm 23 haven't seen my first son since his first birthday as I got another girl pregnant making his mother jealous but I still have regular contact with that son. I struggle a lot with depression because of this. He was my baby boy and always will be but I began a heroin addiction and became an alcoholic due to not being able to handle the shame involved. However I'm in recovery from alcohol and haven't taken opiates in 3 years. Been on methadone since. Other people have been there man and I'm so happy for you to be able to have this moment. Love from Scotland hopefully this can be me one day

As someone who has a bad relationship with my dad, this really warmed my heart. Really changed my perspective that there are many fathers out there who love they're children unconditionally. 🥰
