Very good review and thank you for you honestly and down to earth approach. My only question after viewing your review is, how does this machine handle heavy duty seams??? For instance, denim jean hemming?

The fact that you matched the fabric colours, word Fonts, and even title alignment to the original books is amazing!

I just got this machine and the LED light is terrible! I can't see anything without back-up lighting. My 40 year old Kenmore machine didn't have this issue... Is this an issue with MY machine or is this something that no one mentions?

Beginner sewer here! I was on the fence about this machine and half way through your video, I paused it, jumped on amazon and bought it immediately😅. It will be here in 2 days and I am stoked to learn on this! Thank you!

You weren't kidding about the gathering/ruffles making it hard to stitch together the cuff and the sleeve. This is the first project I've ever sewn (because I was like how hard could it be?) and woof. It was rough. I kept rewinding this video to watch how you did it!

This is the closest to my bookshelf quilt plans. I was only planning embroidery but will vinyl work better? I plan to make a quilt blanket for daily use and not a wallhanging - for a teenager. I was planning to embroider on a bigger piece of fabric and cut it afterward. Did it work without any trouble for you to embroider on the finished books? Was the letter size easy to chose? Or did you have any troubles from the beginning? Love your bookshelf quilt - so uniq with all the booktitles ❤😍

Awesome!! I would definitely recommend embroidery if it’s for every day use. The vinyl doesn’t hold up as well after repeated washing. I thought everything went fine with embroidering after it was all pieced together because I used so many different fabrics and often decided last minute what to use. If you have a good plan set it would definitely be more time and material efficient to do the embroidery first and then cut it all out.

Hi Amber! We are about to embark on this pattern and the back only has the yardage for one fabric. What yardage did you use for the liner vs the outside? Did you just use the recommendations for B even though you were sewing A? We’re new but my 11 year old is making her costume for Ren Faire! :)
@AmbertheStitchWitch
@AmbertheStitchWitch Жыл бұрын
I bought exactly what the pattern suggested and bought the same yardage for liner and main fabric. I always have enough fabric when I follow the pattern envelope. It’s worth noting that my main fabric was one directional so it is the most difficult to be efficient with since all the pieces have to face the same way.

I’d like to credit the corduroy for sticking together well, kind of like Velcro, but I also hate pinning so that’s a factor.

I made a bookshelf quilt in 2019 for my sister-in-law. I did a few titles with embroidery by hand. But I don’t have the vinyl cutter or other fancy tools. It was fun to do though. Yours turned out beautiful!

The metal pin you lost goes into the hollow axle of the tensioner. Without it, the tension will not be released once you lift the presser foot. You got lucky that the old one got stuck inside the machine, so by accident, it works. You should really re-wire both motor and pedal, this crusty cable is an accident waiting to happen.

You are correct, your facing does not need to be cut on the bias when you're using stretch knits. However, I've always cut them perpendicular to the selvage.
