Mexico abolished slavery in 1829 under the rule of Vicente Guerrero, before Santa Anna's rise to prominence. However, the issue of slavery was a significant factor in the tensions between Mexico and the Texas settlers, who largely came from the United States and brought enslaved people with them.

The narration tone poses a difficulty for me. I find it too soft, not sharp enough and lacking energy. To me, it was hard to listen to that narration, I couldn't watch the video. I gave up after one or two minutes.

Great microphone, so good Infact I can hear every breath you take and your tongue clicking as you talk. I can't watch your videos because of this. Editing your sound or getting a screen for your microphone would help alot.

When France fell Hitler had Mussolini convinced that Britain's fall was imminent and even though Mussolini knew Italy was unprepared he felt the time was ripe to take a calculated gamble and quickly overrun North Africa and emerge a hero. Well obviously it didn't work out that way although the one area where the Italians were ahead of the allies were their naval commandos.

In the end, it was the incompetence of the French military leaders as well as an inability of the French, English, Belgians to work together. What would happen today if NATO countries had to work together?

Its easy to forget that Soviet Russia was incredibly secretive about any and everything about uts internal workings. We only know what we know today because of declassified Soviet documents. To the outside world, the Soviet Union was an unflinching economic super-power. Propaganda was and still is a powerful tool.

Don't forget that during the Muslim Conquest when Mehmed II conquered the Byzantine Empire (Easter Roman Empire), it was there that created the events of the Ottomans blocking Europeans from trading goods through the Silk Road into India and Asia, which forced them to go around Africa, which led to accidental discovery of the New World.

The underlying cause of the Great War was the concept of Monarchy. Grossly stupid and inferior men were ruling the powerful states of Europe with predictable results. The second underlying cause was Entangling Alliances. An outmoded concept that made war inevitable.

Good video but I think it misses some of the nuances. History gets more complex the closer you look. Adding all the nuances would take 10 petabytes, 1,000 videos, and 1,000 years, so I'll throw out a few factoids that might be food for thought and add some spice to the dish... Austro-Hungarian army was relatively small compared with Germany, Russia, and France. Conscription started late (1912) due to internal negotiations (i.e. Austria and Hungary). The military used a common-language of about 80 words called Army Slavic (based on Czech). Nearly all upper ranking officers spoke German. [Worth remembering British officers spoke English, French spoke French.] There was a lack of interpreters at lower levels. [Worth remembering British had non-English speaking units, French had non-French speakers.] There was friction between the German-speaking and non-German speaking. Austro-Hungary, and it's military, had a complex command structure. In Austro-Hungary around 50% spoke German or Hungarian, but 50% spoke mainly Slavic languages. There were 11 official languages. [Worth remembering the EU has 24.] There were actually a large number from all ethnic groups who volunteered to join the army. Although it was a patchwork quilt and there were tensions, but it's easy to overplay it. Austro-Hungary was far from being the only multi-ethnic and multi-lingual military. The other big players were all empires with forces that were far from homogenous. For instance, it wasn't Britain that went to war, but the British Empire. Quite different. Likewise for the empires of France, Russia, and the Ottomans. Some of the belligerents were fairly new entities, for instance Germany and Italy (1870's). So as the British Army had people from Africa, India, and Ireland and the French Army had people from North and West Africa, the German army had Bavarians, Saxons, and Prussians as well as non-Germans in it's overseas colonies. I think Austro-Hungary and it's role in the war is an interesting, and still a lesser covered, part of history. From where we stand now it seems like an unusual entity, but 100 years ago, in many ways, I'm not so sure it was that different. P.S. Before anyone shouts, both Austro-Hungary and Austria-Hungary are valid names.

My opinion is the 7 Years War does not get enough attention. It led directly to the British empire. The American revolution (revolting over the taxes to pay for the war), the French Revolution (bankrupt French state after the war and losing and then funding the American revolution which worsen the problems), this in turn led to the Napoleonic wars.
