I loved Matt Dillon as a boy growing up. He represented what is best in men. His wife was Dodge City. His friendship with Miss Kitty was legendary. There was incredible chemistry between them, but never married because of his line of work.

Wow! Great collection of excerpts from Gunsmoke episodes! What a great, legendary show! It was one of my favorite westerns as a boy in the 60s. I remember watching Gunsmoke with my mom and dad every Monday night! It was a show that young kids could watch. There were so many great actors. The stories and the acting were great. It was truly the golden age of TV!

I liked James Aurness, and gunsmoke. But it's fun watching him and the others breakup and have a good laugh on occasion.

Matt Dillon was my hero growing up and that's who I wanted to be. Gunsmoke was a good show and the very best show when Festus and Newly were regular cast members. Ken Curtis is so very underrated as an actor not to mention a singer

In that first scene, the old lady with the rifle is legendary movie actress Bette Davis. You don't see stars of that magnitude appearing on TV shows today (not talk shows). At least, after their movie careers were established, I haven't seen Robert DeNiro, Leonardo DiCaprio, or Al Pacino on NCIS. Maybe I missed an episode with Nicholas Cage. I did see Sigourney Weaver recently do a turn in the British series Doc Martin. Now, that was something (she's personal friends with one of the actresses in the series).

I watch reruns of this show all the time and just came across this video. Another good line Matt said when Chester asked him when he was returning from his trip to Hayes City........"Chester, you'll know that I'm back when you see me."

You can't cast chemistry because that grows with time. And they became gold. I sometimes feel as though i am looking through a time capsule and watching real lives play out. Matt, Doc, Kitty, Chester, Festus, Quint, Newly, et. al. - the perfect cast.
