@@christianpratt also, if you're interested, I found that the light design package overhead console is also a plug-and-play for these cars. The unit from a 718, or a 991 with light design will work for these cars. For a Boxster just get the 718 Boxster or 991 Cabrio unit. For a Cayman, the 991 coupe unit. I found a unit on eBay for about 90 USD. Plugged it in and just head to tick one box for overhead light package in coding, and everything works terrifically. It gives you accent LEDs on either side of the console, along with a master interior light shut off switch which the non-light design cars don't have.

Thank you for sharing such useful information. Today, I used PIWIS3 to change the EPS map. Unfortunately, my 14CS didn’t have the GT3 RS/GT4 settings available (they were all marked as 'Reserve'), so I opted for the GT3 as the next best option. After the change, the experience feels very similar to when I drove a 997. However, I noticed a slight disconnect around the dead center of the steering wheel, which someone would describe as feeling 'lighter.' Despite this, I’m relatively satisfied with the results so far. I think I’ll need to drive on more varied roads to properly assess the changes.

I’m interested in spoiler speed mod. Here in the states the speeds it goes up is an easy sign for a law enforcement officer familiar with the brand to pull you over. I leave mine up all the time. I don’t like the increased drag it offers. And doubt it offers any tangible downforce in a corner. I would prefer it stays down. Lastly I forget how tiny the garages are over the pond. That looks like my shed for garden / pool equipment. We are blessed to have garages here with plenty of space. Cheers mate.

The speed 'signal' the spoiler provides is a bit of a giveaway isn't it? I've read of people setting the parameter values so that the spoiler effectively remains inactive - basically coding out the spoiler. I don't know precisely what's involved but I know others have tried. Alternatively you could adjust the height values so that it only extends a small amount, reducing the drag. We have a national cultural precedent for small garages (dating back to small cars!). It's - a pain. At least I actually get my car into the garage - thank goodness the Boxster is relatively narrow. Christian. My car is missing the TPS. Do you know if the physical sensors were fitted as standard? (981S)
@christianpratt12 күн бұрын
@@Dave-un7fh Hi Dave. Good question. The general rule of thumb is that if the option is missing then the wiring loom won’t support retrofit - as I discovered with my puddle lights and footwell lights. I think the rain sensor is the exception that proves the rule (it exists within an otherwise standard fixture) - that the TPMS hardware isn’t present and nor are the plugs on the loom to retrofit. (Same for the rear speaker blanks if you don’t have BOSE - another example.) That said, if you want to know your tyre pressures there are, I understand, plenty of aftermarket options. The only downside being you might not be able to get them to work with/in the dash display.

@@christianpratt As far as I'm aware the inclusion of TPMS (i.e. type pressure monitoring), is a physical component which was optional on all MY 2012-2014 cars, and was made standard for MY 2015. Hi, I’ve got my CTeK charger mounted on the wall, with the output cable zip-tied to the frame of my up & over Garage door. The lead then drops down beside the windscreen pillar so I can plug it into the extended fly-lead from teh battery, that pokes through the scuttle-cover and emerges beside one of the washer jets, and this is usual practice for warmer times when car in use. For the next couple of months during winter and not in use, I’ve added another C-tek extension so that it goes down to almost floor-lever then back up, once the car cover is on. Means I’m not tripping over wires or charger on the floor, unlike my friend & his Boxster!

Interesting. No, I don't believe that's normal (based on having BOSE previously in two other cars). Firstly, is there any other odd behaviour from the PCM, ie. settings defaulting, performance dropping out, etc? Perhaps the PCM is on the blink - a dodgy earth or similar? Second - and I haven't check the manual on this, so it might be an incorrect guess - do you have the personlisation option on the 18-way electric seats If you do, then the car may well save the audio settings along with the seat position (mirrors, etc.) AND it could be that it's that which is at fault. Perhaps you need to reset/save the settings to button 1/2/3. (And if the remote on the key isn't working then it might need a new battery which would then let the car 'see' it again, which might be another version of the same problem. ie. settings not be allocated/saved to a key profile.) Lastly, it might be a problem with the BOSE amplifier, which I >think< is under the driver's (UK) seat. (That's certainly where my Sound Package Plus amplifer is.) Perhaps that's damaged? First thing to check on that is for water damage - check to see if the carpet in and around the base of the seat is wet. (Assuming your car is a Boxster? If it's a Cayman, it won't suffer this problem.) Beyond that, I'm out of ideas. It's not an issue I've come across before - bit of an odd one. Good luck!
