Nicely presented Christian. Love how you are numbering each video, they are now part of my saved video maintenance library. 👍🏻

Thanks as always Barrie. I'm not sure they really need numbering, but it's fun to see them clock up!

Good work as always mate, I had the brake bush replaced a few years back as it was sticking in cold weather as the heater was on hot in the foot well. It brought a fault on the dash as the pedal was not returning. New updated bush fitted. Another pipe to check is washer fluid hose as they get brittle and snap.juat about to replace mine as it's going white in colour.

Thanks Justin! Always value your feedback. You're several steps ahead of me on the jobs. 😀Charlie mentioned the washer fluid hose to me as well - that sounds like a quick job for the winter months. Mine appears fine a present, but I'd rather not find out it's failed when on the motorway...

@christianpratt the hose is not alot of money I'm doing as you said it's going to fail when you need it.

@@christianpratt Mine is leaking. However, it is a LHD car and configured differently, with a a bundle of wiring just below. The tape around the wires is soaked with brake fluid. Fluid level is OK, so no error message. It's off to the mechanic!

Interesting to see your video, wish this was on KZbin two years ago as my 2013 Cayman started leaking and it took the dealer a week to find! I guess it was less common then.

@@MrGrumpydriver It’s evidently an emerging fault, as the plastics become more brittle with age. I hope you didn’t have to pay too much in workshop hours for the diagnosis! Appreciate the comment. 👍
@MrGrumpydriver2 ай бұрын
As your car’s a similar age to mine, have you checked if the outer CV joints have started leaking yet? The outer metal collar of the joint rusts through and the grease spins out through pinholes over the rear hub. Happens on higher mileage cars and ones that aren’t garaged.

Very interesting, thanks! Do I understand correctly that the clutch and brake fluid systems were NOT integrated on the earlier cars? I have an '06 911 and am curious if they both use the same fluid and reservoir. Thank you, -Tom.
@christianpratt2 ай бұрын
@@aboyandhisdog Hi Tom. 06 would be a 996? I think Charlie mentions in the video that the 996 had separate systems for the clutch and brakes - but best confirm that with your local Indy to be sure… Thanks for commenting. 🙏

Hi Christian, great video as always and very informative. I’ve got a somewhat unrelated question (but related to the 981 GTS). I’ve just had a wheel alignment done to my stock car, and noticed that the tyres still do on occasion follow the cambers on the road. If I have my hands of the steering wheel on a fairly straight road, the car does veer slightly to one direction and needs some subtle steering input. I just wanted to check if your car does the same? It’s very subtle. Any thoughts appreciated! And my apologies for going off topic!
@christianpratt2 ай бұрын
Hi Prashanth. Glad you enjoyed the video! On a straight road with a smooth surface (e.g. freshly laid) and minimal crown the car should run dead straight without any steering input or corrections. Add some crown (camber) to the surface and the car will ever so slowly 'fall' off the road as it follows the camber to the verge. This is normal. Where there are tram/trucklines in the carrigeway then a small amount of tracking can occur and is normal in my experience. In theory the car should self-correct for this - ie. the tramlines tend to balance out and the car will generally stay dead ahead, albeit with some minor left/right deviations. If you're finding the car veering one way only, persistently, then it sounds like the alignment isn't quite right. If your car passes the flat/straigh/dead ahead test, then any tugging or jiggling over tramlines is fine and simply a feature of the geometry and alignment. Caveat: I'm not a suspension engineer! This is simply my experience with the GTS and other cars... 😀
@prashanthp54482 ай бұрын
@ thanks so much for the comprehensive explanation. It has added a lot of clarity. I will test this out on an even and well surfaced road when we have some good weather. You are probably right about the alignment - I got mine done at a general wheel alignment place but I should have gone to a Porsche alignment specialist. I’ll also check the thread on my tyres just in case!
@christianpratt2 ай бұрын
@@prashanthp5448 A quick final thought; if you have worn bushes in the suspension (typically the ‘coffin arms’ on the rear) then the car can wonder even if the alignment is correct, as the worn bushes allow additional unwanted movement. In that case you really need a dedicated Porsche shop to check/replace components and then correctly realign the car. Tedious, but worth doing. When right, they are super sweet!
@cayman98152 ай бұрын
this is not a problem with PDK ?
@christianpratt2 ай бұрын
@@cayman9815 No - it’s entirely down to the hydraulics required to move the clutch on/off the flywheel. While the PDK has twin internal clutches they’re similar in name alone.
