Well, James Bond is part of our culture in to kill him off like that is so stupid and disrespectful. It’s kind of like with Star Wars. I’ve been a Star Wars fan all my life in a bond fan to and what they did to Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia organa, Chewbacca R2-D2, and C-3PO, Lando, Calrissian, Monmoutha, and others you just don’t do this, because at the end of the day, James Bond is part of our culture and it needs to be respected and eon productions that owns the rights to James Bond. Daniel Craig have no right to do that to us. That is a responsible and should’ve been stopped right at the jump

Still better than of all Craig’s Bond wannabe films.

I liked DAF when I was kid…it’s great to see Connery back as Bond, and it’s a fast paced story thats trying to be reminiscent of Goldfinger. However, as I’ve gotten older and more critical I’ve realized it’s easily one of the most convoluted stories in the entire franchise…this movie is very silly, and barely makes any sense. Question: Are Mr. Wint and Kidd SPECTRE operatives? It never seems clear that they are…and if they aren’t working for SPECTRE, who are they working for??
@Beingjamesbond4 күн бұрын
That's actually a GREAT point! You never do see them reporting back to Blofeld, or anyone for that matter.

''Diamonds Are Forever'' makes sence as a sequel of ''You Only Live Twice''. Mr. Wint and Kidd working for Blofeld, as seems in the meeting with Saxby after killing Tree.

Watching this movie and Live and Let Die, both Sean and Roger could’ve done both movies to be honest. Rogers first bond movie still had the small elements of the Connery era left and Diamonds are Forever had the small elements of comedic moments that Rogers bond films had!🙏🏻 The funniest moment in this movie for me personally was when Tiffany says: “Keep honking on that tooter Charlie or you’re gonna get a shot in the mouth”😂💀 Love the video guys🙌🏻

You guys didn't mention one of the greatest lines in cinema: "That's a Smith and Wesson. And you've had your six." I would rate this one a bit lower, like a 7, but mainly because it's a bit creaky in places. For example, Mr. Jones' acting (even though the guy apparently had played Hamlet in Jamaica), or the attempt at Asian makeup on Miss Taro, or the identical bird sounds that were dubbed into every outdoor scene, or the way the guy on the boat sounds like he's still using his megaphone when he's just talking to the other guy on the boat. Little things, but they all add up to a movie that needed a bit more polish.

I hated the way Bond was in this one… and yes, particularly in the first half of the film. He came across like a cosplay bond and the disconnect between the first two films and this one re his character is really bad

Wow, SO many YT ads guys. IMO Bond fanboys (and girls) give this one WAY too much of a pass. Just because it inspired much of the Austin Powers movies and lent music to a Robbie Coltrane song doesn't make it a good movie. Apparently the Ken Adams secret lair set cost as much to make as the entire 'Dr. No' film, which also doesn't automatically make it a good film. The way they have Connery recovered the plane is just silly ("Oh, there's a field. -- Oh, but now suddenly there's a paved road for this obviously not model airplane to land on.") The rooftop fight scene with the 20 goons is terrible, Karin Dor was boring af, Donald Pleasance was obviously a late addition, the blond strong man is totally forgettable, Connery phones it in for most of the movie, none of the effects have aged well, and so many elements were lifted from earlier films in the series. I do agree it would have been a better story and movie if they'd gone straight from Bond's faked death to him going undercover in the village. So much of the appeal of this story is exploring the exoticism of Japanese rural life, which they could have done much more with. No wonder Connery wanted out so badly after this.

I think The World is Not Enough is such a generic Bond movie that it feels like it was written by an algorithm. I significantly prefer Tomorrow Never Dies because it was more original. However, over the years, TWINE has somewhat increased in value in my eyes because it does make an effort to be a serious Bond film, and it doesn't have as much sci-fi trash, cheesiness, and bombast as Die Another Day. Still, TWINE remains near the bottom of my Bond rankings. In my opinion, TWINE, Moonraker, and Die Another Day are the three worst Bond movies, but TWINE is the best of this trio.

I think what happened was that the team that put this film together looked at how popular the Bourne movies were, in which Matt Damon's character is a real person who has real emotions. In Casino Royale, we have a James Bond who isn't some suave, wise-cracking caricature of a person. Instead, in this film, we have a Bond who gets hurt, bleeds, and needs to gulp down Scotch to calm his nerves after a fight. And the action sequences are not simply artificially tacked on just to add suspense. All of the action sequences are necessary to move the plot along. And this is a James Bond film where we actually have an emotional investment in the Bond character. By contrast, one of the worst films in the series is Moonraker, where Roger Moore has been reduced to a tired punster who dashes off silly double entendres and jokes as if he's playing a stand-up comedy routine. Thankfully, in Casino Royale, Bond is a real guy, with abilities as well as limitations, and a vulnerability that adds suspense to the events as they unfold. Absolutely the best Bond film of all time. Hands down.

Just saw this again and still really enjoyed it (the whole Vulcan bomber sequence was -- and still is -- beyond cool). Most of the shortcomings -- especially the rear projection stuff -- I tend to chalk up to the film being 'of its time', before special effects as we know them were possible. Audiences in 1965 (and the early 70's, when I first saw 'Thunderball' as a kid) were well acquainted with rear projections scenes, and how fake they could look. Could it have been better? Sure, although given the schedule they had to make these movies I tend to cut them some slack. I'm surprised you didn't also mention the running time of 130 minutes, which was crazy long for 1965. I feel like that contributed to the sense that the movie was dragging in places, especially that last underwater fight scene.

1. From Russia with Love 2. Goldfinger 3. On Her Majesty 4. Spy Who Loved Me 5. Goldeneye 6. Casino Royale I believe for most of us, Connery is in a different stratosphere than the others. Not linearly, but exponentially greater than the others. It would be like designating a Ferrari as second tier to a Lexus. I simply can't pick a movie in my top Bond which doesn't include him. Second, part of the joy of Bond is the historical appreciation of the way things were in the sixties. The suits, the thin ties, the cars, the dress, the hotels and the music. So for me, even On Her Majesty's Secret Service is classier and more deserving to be in my top 5. As Brosnan is my second favorite Bond, I also would put one of his movies in my top ones although I didn't necessarily love any of his movies, but loved him. I find Craig and Dalton so lacking in humor, so brooding, depressed, and to my eye less attractive, that I only make room for one Craig in the top six because the movie was strong. Saying Craig or Dalton films is better than Connery islike saying a modern version of “It’s a Wonderful Life” is better than the original. Blasphemy. It’s not just the story and actor, it’s everything nostalgic and historical.
