Great point! In cooler climates, potatoes can last much longer when stored properly. Since Florida's heat and humidity make it tricky to replicate those ideal conditions, I shared a method that works for our unique environment. Mike 🧔

The best bake potato is made in my ninja insta pot
@KitchenTipsOnline5 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing! It sounds like you’re using the convection setting on your Ninja, which is great for achieving that crispy skin. You're absolutely right-a convection setup will give you a crispier baked potato, but it does take quite a bit more time. The microwave method I shared is all about speed and convenience, especially for those moments when you're short on time! Mike 🧔

@ OK, I happen to have a decent size russet potato here and an apple peeler. This didn’t work well and the number one reason which you won’t be able to overcome with an apple peeler is that the potato needs to be supported at both ends. The Apple peeler advances the potato faster than you would want it to and so it doesn’t really do a very good job. There is a chance an apple peeler is out there that supports the apple from both ends but I’m not aware of one . I’ll look into this product you demonstrated, obviously it works. Thank you for responding.
@KitchenTipsOnline8 күн бұрын
Thanks for giving it a shot and for sharing your experience! You’re absolutely right-supporting the potato at both ends and controlling the speed are key factors for success. It’s interesting to hear how the apple peeler worked (or didn’t, in this case). I appreciate you taking the time to experiment and report back! I think you’ll really enjoy the product I demonstrated-it’s designed specifically for tasks like this, so it makes a big difference. If you do end up trying it out, I’d love to hear how it works for you. Thanks again for your curiosity and for following up! 😊 Mike 🧔

@KitchenTipsOnline10 күн бұрын
If your kitchen is 80 to 85° all the time my guess is you have bigger problems than keeping potatoes fresh. With that kind of temperature and no basement you will not be able to store potatoes long-term. Mike 🧔

Great video about the gases and how they ripen the bananas quicker. The only thing I do differently is separate my bananas before wrapping the stems. To slow ripening even more I'll toss them in the refrigerator, separate and wrapped. Thank you for your video tips, all of them.

Hi there! Helllllp please! My dishwasher latch has all of a sudden become difficult to lock, I have to force it. Simultaneously started using a new dishwashing liquid brand. As a result over sudsing coming out the front of the dishwasher. Once suds dissipate, water as deep as possible remains. I've dipped this thing out three times. And I have not added dishwashing detergent to the last two tries. This is a very old no frills GE Nautilus. Any ideas??? Thanks sooo much!
@KitchenTipsOnline13 күн бұрын
It’s difficult to diagnose the exact problem with your dishwasher from afar. It's possible that the door has been impacted or forced downward by weight damaging the hinges. The only thing I could suggest is to make sure that the dishwasher is in the center of the opening and that it is not touching the counter-top or cabinets when closed. If the problem continues, you may want to reach out to a local technician. Mike

So you wash the lettuce leaves as you use them? I like my lettuce crisp and once rinsed, no matter how many paper towels I use, or spins in the crisper, it’s still limp. Any tips for that? Looking forward to trying the straw trick, thank you!
@KitchenTipsOnline13 күн бұрын
Yes like I indicated in the video you should only wash the lettuce when you pull off what you need. The only way to keep the letter crispy is to keep it in the crisper drawer in the bottom of your refrigerator. That's the coldest place you can find for lettuce. You might try using Saran wrap instead of the Ziploc bag with a straw. Saran wrap will keep it tighter and it may stay crispier that way. Mike 🧔
@marciebrewer174013 күн бұрын
@ thank you! Sorry, I evidently missed that. I do keep it in the crisper drawer but will try Saran Wrap. 😊

I'm guessing you used your cell phone to video the inside ?
@KitchenTipsOnline14 күн бұрын
No, I did not use a cell phone inside the microwave Although I could have. I used a GoPro camera and installed a switch between the 120-volt supply line and the high-voltage transformer that produces the microwave power. This way, I could turn off the microwave’s power whenever I put the camera inside. Mike 🧔
