Thank you, Dr. Susan! BeforeI had my hysterectomy, I had to have a blood transfusion, because my count was 5. I took my daughter to her high school football game, and I thought I was going to have a heart attack walking up the ramp to the stadium

I understand post menopausal women don't need as much iron mainly because they aren't having periods. We should make sure if we do take iron that it's ferrous fumerate and not elemental iron.

We don't really know until we check because of the reasons that I mentioned some people don't absorb it very well and people get very little in their diet so really important to check labs no matter how old you are! As I mentioned, mine was really low and I haven't had a period in 10 years!!!

My husband produces too many red blood cells. His hemoglobin and hematocrits are high so he gets a phlebotomy. I have high cholesterol so I try not to eat red meat plus colon cancer runs in my family. Dairy does a number on my digestive system and I’m gluten sensitive. I don’t take an iron supplement because it constipates me.

Absolutely not everybody is low in iron but about half of women are - so maybe you are in the lucky half 😮

I would love to know the minimum and maximum ranges for female labs. My conventional doc says my results are in range and I don't need anything. I want to believe that of course, but I also am not a big supporter of conventional "wisdom" about health. I have severe body aches, and since this is a symptom of low estrogen, I would love to get another opinion. Not medical advice, as I know that is not allowed, but just some actual ranges so I can compare my own. Do you have some standard advice?

I just recently was seen and given hormone pellets w testosterone because my testosterone was at 1.1. I am also being given progesterone tablets. I was having peri symptoms and hairloss was one of them. I also was having 3 periods in a month in half after going a full 30 days without a period. I went to this clinic and this is what they prescribed. Is this good?

Pellets are dangerous. It’s a lie that they deliver a steady stream of hormones. If you look over the course of a year, the fluctuations are up and down like a “saw toothed” pattern. I was given one, and was extremely high for a long time. YET THEY WERE READY TO STICK ME WITH ANOTHER ONE until I told them to check my blood levels. Can’t imagine what would’ve happened to me if I let them. walked around jittery and headache. And when you crash, YOU CRASH.

I’m 60, post menopausal, and have Hashimoto. I developed many issues. I went carnivore (no dairy) and healed most of my issues with nutrition alone (no meds.). My hypothyroid is gone (BEFORE TAKING IODINE) But I still have some hashi antibodies. Im up to 10 drops of 2% lugols. Each time I increase by a drop I get a bromide dump and have to drink salt water. I’ve been doing this for a few months now but it has my head foggy which I’m not thrilled with. Iodine does not make me feel better in any way but I’m hoping it will in time. I actually feel better without it but after doing a urine iodine test I only came through at 57% iodine and it should be 90% or above. My bromides came through at 3.96. That is double what they normally see. So I’m assuming I’m going to bromide dump every time I increase my iodine. I’m not on any thyroid med. I never took any. I’ve lost a lot of hair, but am no longer losing any. I would love for it to grow back though. That’s been a challenge. IG: @CarnivoreAngelHealing This is what I healed w/ carnivore BEFORE starting iodine: Since 2-1-21: Massive Inflammation, Chronic Edema, & Pain gone! Asthma gone! BP normal Foot neuropathy Gone! Liver, Kidney, & Heart labs are now excellent! Total Cholesterol is 140. LDL is 61 Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)- Gone! Spastic esophagus-HEALED! Leaky gut- HEALED! Insulin resistance-HEALED! Fasting insulin now 4!! NA Fatty Liver-HEALED! Severe Hypokalemia-HEALED! Dry eye & Dry mouth HEALED! Hairloss stopped! Balance improved. Sugar addiction & Binging STOPPED! Bulemia healed! A1C is 4.5!! (Used to be 6.7) HS-CRP went triple high of 9.37 to 1.89. Eye Floaters are almost gone! (And they were baddddd) Sleep Apnea gone!!! Fatty Lipoma on wrist GONE!!! High eye pressure gone! Off ALL meds 🥳 Hypothyroid GONE!!! HASHIMOTO is almost gone, WITHOUT ANY MEDS!!! And 112 lbs Gone! (So far)

I have been taking this medication for about five months, and will have to stop because it is very expensive. However, it does work very well. The effect lasts about 10 hours and with continued use, the hot flashes lessen, but once you are off, they come back. Taking in the morning, you can get through your workday, if your symptoms are worse at night, you can take it at night, and you will sleep through without sweating.

No hair loss, no irritation or mood changes, very calm and even keel, no acne but high testosterone at 87. High insulin sensitivity. Not sure since I'm 1 year post menopause. Total testosterone and free testosterone all in the mid range. This part is consistent with your analysis. I take a DHEA supplement, though. You covered this 😮 Progesterone is low at .1 and Estradiol is less than 15. Hemoglobin A1C is 4.9 low mid-range. I fast 36 hours once per week and stopped my strength training though. Thyroid is optimal. Sleep is great. Trying to solve this.

I struggle to drift off to sleep and there are nights that I have pretty bad insomnia and overall I'm probably not getting more than 5 to 6 hours of sleep on a "good night". Do you do all of these supplements every night?! Just to get to sleep? Even though I don't have my periods anymore, my doctor said I should take only 100 mg of progesterone per night. But I'm going to ask her if I can do 200 per night. I also take .5 Estradiol patch 2x/week My doctor has prescribed me gabapentin to help me sleep but I'm nervous to start it because I've heard horror stories about getting off of it or becoming too used to it or it having addictive properties. There are some nights that I only get 3 hours of sleep and my insomnia is terrible! I'll be seeing a sleep doctor in September, but I really need something in the meantime. I've used an extended release Melatonin, and I felt drunk the entire next day (I was even nervous to drive!) and it was awful so I'm nervous to ever try that again. But I'm just curious if you're taking all of those things together at night just so that you're able to sleep?

Hi Doctor Susan! So glad I found you. I am 3 months cancer free. Double Mastectomy and Stage 1A with no lymph node cancer found. Hooray. My surgeon saw me after being off bio identical low dose .25 cream bi-est for only 2 weeks. I was a mess! This was just prior to surgery. After surgery, she agreed that I could resume with as small a dose as possible, following the pathology report results. While I took compounded estrogen for twenty years after hysterectomy, I am finding that the consistency of the quality is not what it should be. It is costing $200.00 every 3 months for vaginal cream and topical cream. I can no longer tolerate the vaginal estriol for some reason and it isn't effective anyway. I was started on Yuva-fem 10 microgram, 2x per week recently and it is just okay not great. I am supposed to begin Divi gel this week .25 per day. I am feeling so estrogen deficient since surgery. Not sleeping, still burning, inflammation galore which means a lot of muscle pain and my memory has left the building, oh yes and dry skin everywhere. I agree so much, Doctor, with your statement about quality of life. I am 72 and after losing my breasts but with an excellent outcome, "Enough"! I an to feel good!

Very sad. My boyfriend had ED from the first time we slept together. I was DEVASTATED but very understanding and supportive, too supportive. He did not bother to work on this through diet, exercise, lifestyle factors. He did not see his doctor, and ignored it. Two years later I have ABSOLUTELY NO sexual attraction towards him now. He is 62 and I am 56. He spent 12 years in a live in relationship without sex prior to our relationship. There is something there. He was very kind to me at first. Lately, extremely mean, angry, impatient and hypercritical of me. He admires young girls who are prettier, thinner, with great legs, and eyes for example on TV. He comments on them and has always spoken to me too much about his ex wife and other sex partners. Two years later I went to my gynecologist and she could not even insert a speculum inside me. My vagina had closed from 2 yrs no sex. (I had been very active before). I am so tired of this partner and his terrible attitude. In the end he was horribly mean to me and did nothing for his issue. We broke up 2 weeks ago. I am very relieved and so much less stressed. He was upsetting me terribly. His mother was even inviting a younger woman over for lunch with friends and him (without me). She is an enmeshed mommy. I think that is his problem and hence my problem. He cannot control her and she has come between us. 62 % of 62 yr olds have ED. If you do not seek help your partner will lose interest. I should have run after 3 months but wanted to give us a chance. Take charge guys or your partner will lose attraction for you. Do not resist viagra, or other treatments. Work on your relationship if you love her.

I am unable to take prescribed statins due to muscle weakness. I have read that red yeast rice will cause the same effect since it is in the prescribed statins. My other concern is you have recommended explicitly Thorne products which has me asking if you have received any funding from them? I would love to get my cholesterol under control, but having said that I have switched to a mostly vegan diet, fish being my protein source. Once I changed my diet (due to celiac and pre diabetes) my cholesterol did drop a lot but still high. It is in fact the best it has ever been. No processed foods, no sugar, low carbs, mostly leafy greens and I did notice a significant positive change. Would like to continue and this red yeast rice does interest me.
