Judging by the top of the line equipment used, I'd say this was an expensive build. Quality workmanship, my only gripe and I see this in other vans, is the tight corridor effect, tall cabinets opposite the kitchen, and with the kitchen top being standard " house" size instead of cutting it back to 50cm for extra floor space, but that's just me.

I absolutely love your conversions, beautiful cabinetry and quality design throughout. My only concern is the question of storage, the kitchen is more than adequate, however where would I store my clothes, the lockers above the bed are ideal for t-shirts, socks, underwear etc but I think I would need storage for trousers, jumpers, spare jackets and spare linen. I don’t travel with ball gowns or anything, but if you are on a long trip. I realize there is space in the garage, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable to have containers, but experience has taught me that you can fill this area very quickly with other paraphernalia , I have seen vans where a L shape seating behind the cab is installed and the washroom is moved to the centre of the van next to the bed. There is a bulkhead behind the cab which does help with insulation, although this does mean you can’t see into the living area when driving, maybe a problem if you travel with dogs. I’m so glad that you’ve received awards, you certainly stand out in a very competitive market, your passion shines through and along with your commitment, I wish you every success

Not a fan of using pocket screws in soft pine like this. These cabinets will have stresses on them that a normal cabinet in your home would not. Unless this is braced well, like against the shower he has, this might just crack over time. I would feel safer with a steel L-Bracket thrown in here and there to provide that tenstile strength to keep the unit from flexing and breaking. just my opinion though.

Question for the comunity: tips on how to BE in a van with a german sheapeard? I want an Office basically but I need to get out Often, coworking too. There are "kindergardens" for dogs quite expensive a month and super expensive a day. I feel like there are more options on the table and I am not getting there. Also it rains a lot here. Last octomn-winter was at least 60% of the days raining. Depends on the winter. I would jump in a van imediatly but I don't know how to handle Alone with the doggo

Brilliant video explaining a lot of information in a short space of time. How long off grid would this system like this last just taking power from the solar panels?
@vanlifeconversions
@vanlifeconversions Ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! It really depends on how much and how long you are cooking for, what else you are running, solar yield to replenish (if it's summer or winter) etc. Some of our clients batteries never go below 70%, for gasless setups it is likely that you would drain them much more regularly so would probably need to drive more frequently (every few days) in the winter or hook up

Our vans come in just over 3000KG with full tanks which leaves plenty for persons and luggage, all the plywood is poplar ply which is more lightweight. For larger vans we would recommend uprating them

Beautiful van, but in a cold country like Sweden, I would need much more insulation in the walls, floor, and ceiling. Also, I would need a heating system for the fresh water and grey water tanks.
@vanlifeconversions
@vanlifeconversions Ай бұрын
Thanks, we use 4 different layers of insulation, yes a water heat element for your tanks would be a good idea - or even having on board tanks instead

Thank you for your comment, we do need to release another video showing the preparation stage before spraying. We keyed up the paint surface using a D.A and scotched all the difficult to reach areas (curves) before panel wiping off the residue with a tack cloth. Then we set about applying the raptor. Thank you for pointing out that this step was missing in this video 🙏
@ktd2956

Raptor does not need primer,just rub down body with 80/120. It only needs a "primer" coat on plastic trim.

Amazing and inspiring build! How does the lack of an insulated bulkhead effect the warmth of the van in colder conditions?
@vanlifeconversions
@vanlifeconversions Ай бұрын
Hi, we have had really positive feedback from our customers about the warmth inside the van. The thick curtain does provide a good barrier to prevent cold from the cab entering into the living space. The heating operates on a thermostat, so it will maintain the temperature inside the van based on what level you want it to be set at. Alternatively, if you will be spending long periods of time in really cold climates then you could add an external silver insulated screen which goes over the cab windows and windscreen to provide addition insulation. Thank you for your comment

are you removing and re-applying the thin blue tape between each coat? You mention that you apply three coats, 45min between coats and must remove the tape within that 45min. Just wondering if you remove and re-apply or stack three layers in the beginning?
@vanlifeconversions
@vanlifeconversions 2 ай бұрын
So we do a light dust coat, wait 45mins, do a proper coat, then remove the blue tape. Then assess it, if you are doing a dark colour on a white van you will likely need to tape up again and repeat a coat or two. If you end up leaving it much longer then an hour between coats it would be worth scotching it up again between coats

I noticed all your builds have the shower compartment behind the driver's seat and the kitchen on the same wall. Most builds have the kitchen behind the sliding door. I like the open feel of your layouts but are there any other reasons you design your Vans this way? Thanks.
@vanlifeconversions
@vanlifeconversions 2 ай бұрын
Thanks! It’s mainly to keep an open plan living space and maximise room inside the van. We do have our Rudi layout with the shower in the middle of the van. This separates the van into bed and living space so is just personal preference really if you like it open or more segregated
