Not a fan of using pocket screws in soft pine like this. These cabinets will have stresses on them that a normal cabinet in your home would not. Unless this is braced well, like against the shower he has, this might just crack over time. I would feel safer with a steel L-Bracket thrown in here and there to provide that tenstile strength to keep the unit from flexing and breaking. just my opinion though.

Question for the comunity: tips on how to BE in a van with a german sheapeard? I want an Office basically but I need to get out Often, coworking too. There are "kindergardens" for dogs quite expensive a month and super expensive a day. I feel like there are more options on the table and I am not getting there. Also it rains a lot here. Last octomn-winter was at least 60% of the days raining. Depends on the winter. I would jump in a van imediatly but I don't know how to handle Alone with the doggo

Brilliant video explaining a lot of information in a short space of time. How long off grid would this system like this last just taking power from the solar panels?
@vanlifeconversions16 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! It really depends on how much and how long you are cooking for, what else you are running, solar yield to replenish (if it's summer or winter) etc. Some of our clients batteries never go below 70%, for gasless setups it is likely that you would drain them much more regularly so would probably need to drive more frequently (every few days) in the winter or hook up

Hi there, I'd be interested to know which router bit you used please, I have trialled with a 45 degree trend tc blade and that doesnt really produce a nice clean v profile, the middle of the groove is pretty dished. Have you a recommendation at all please? Really loving your buid guide videos. Thanks 😊😊

@vanlifeconversions25 күн бұрын
Our vans come in just over 3000KG with full tanks which leaves plenty for persons and luggage, all the plywood is poplar ply which is more lightweight. For larger vans we would recommend uprating them

Beautiful van, but in a cold country like Sweden, I would need much more insulation in the walls, floor, and ceiling. Also, I would need a heating system for the fresh water and grey water tanks.
@vanlifeconversions25 күн бұрын
Thanks, we use 4 different layers of insulation, yes a water heat element for your tanks would be a good idea - or even having on board tanks instead

Awesome. How did you find installing the wolf box dashcam? I assume you mounted the camera separate from the brake light?

No priming? That's going to chip very badly
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment, we do need to release another video showing the preparation stage before spraying. We keyed up the paint surface using a D.A and scotched all the difficult to reach areas (curves) before panel wiping off the residue with a tack cloth. Then we set about applying the raptor. Thank you for pointing out that this step was missing in this video 🙏
@ktd295627 күн бұрын
Raptor does not need primer,just rub down body with 80/120. It only needs a "primer" coat on plastic trim.

Love the set up, very smart. my only concern would be not having a diesel heater coming from the main fuel tank> scotland is cold in the summer, let alone the winter lol. i dont think the truma system will be good enough?? great electrical set up as well

Amazing and inspiring build! How does the lack of an insulated bulkhead effect the warmth of the van in colder conditions?
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Hi, we have had really positive feedback from our customers about the warmth inside the van. The thick curtain does provide a good barrier to prevent cold from the cab entering into the living space. The heating operates on a thermostat, so it will maintain the temperature inside the van based on what level you want it to be set at. Alternatively, if you will be spending long periods of time in really cold climates then you could add an external silver insulated screen which goes over the cab windows and windscreen to provide addition insulation. Thank you for your comment
@MimbultoniaАй бұрын
Can I ask what shower cubicle brand you use or perhaps it’s your own design/ build? Looks awesome!
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Thanks yes we build it ourselves, We will release a video on this soon!
@mattgough6344Ай бұрын
are you removing and re-applying the thin blue tape between each coat? You mention that you apply three coats, 45min between coats and must remove the tape within that 45min. Just wondering if you remove and re-apply or stack three layers in the beginning?
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
So we do a light dust coat, wait 45mins, do a proper coat, then remove the blue tape. Then assess it, if you are doing a dark colour on a white van you will likely need to tape up again and repeat a coat or two. If you end up leaving it much longer then an hour between coats it would be worth scotching it up again between coats

The only issue that I would be concerned with is that RO water must be under 100° temperature or else the filter won't last very long.
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Sure, in the UK that is less of an issue unfortunately

I noticed all your builds have the shower compartment behind the driver's seat and the kitchen on the same wall. Most builds have the kitchen behind the sliding door. I like the open feel of your layouts but are there any other reasons you design your Vans this way? Thanks.
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Thanks! It’s mainly to keep an open plan living space and maximise room inside the van. We do have our Rudi layout with the shower in the middle of the van. This separates the van into bed and living space so is just personal preference really if you like it open or more segregated
@mrsteadyhands6408Ай бұрын
Hi, impressive work. Do you build to customer spec? Looking for some sort of wardrobe space, would sacrifice bed size. Thanks.
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Hi yes we have 3 starting layouts and then can tailor the spec to your needs. We could certainly add a wardrobe 👍

I've heard that the composting loos are a pain in the butt (pun intended) to maintain, and generally stinky. I'd be scared of that as this van won't exactly act as an extractor fan!
@vanlifeconversionsАй бұрын
Our clients with Natures Head and Ogo toilets have given great feedback and say they can go 4-6 weeks without emptying it and there are no smells. The cheaper options without agitators are not as good as they don't really turn it to compost, they are just separation toilets really so do need to be emptied more often and have a higher risk of smells

Nice setup! Where are your water tanks (underslung?) and what is fresh/gray water capacity? I am currenty building gasless setup (portable induction hob, AC water heater 15L 1200W, diesel air heater) - 890W solar panels (2 x 445W residential panels), self-built 24V 320Ah battery (8kWh), 3000W 24V all-in-one inverter. So two panels in series I can use built-in MPPT, there is also AC charger built-in and automatic pass-throuh when shore power is connected (probably dont need it much with huge battery and solar array). I will also add 580W DC-DC charger. 24V I decided because I can find some 24V DC appliances and power then directly without inverter or 24-12V step-down converter.
