You can’t be “trained to be a Witcher”. Sure you can learn their fighting style and all that goes with being one, but the core of being a Witcher is the genetic transformation undergone through “the trial of grasses” - which Ciri, according to the books, can’t do due to her elder blood. So no she is not and can never be a Witcher.

@@OddityDK Geralt calls Siri a Witcher in the game. It's a big moment for her character. Besides, the point is that CDPR had intended for Ciri to become a Witcher long before the Witcher 4. We're talking about the games here, not the books.

@@thehereticalnerdVery fair point, I didn't want to assume that's why I asked. In short, the games invented it. It states that Ciri became a member of the school of the Cat. Although her training was exclusively with Geralt in Kear Morhen. Witcher 3 also spends a lot of time asking the question of "does Ciri want to become a witcher" because you can either make Ciri a witcher or become the empress of Nilfguard. I mean as someone who has clocked in almost 300 hours into a single playthrough. It makes total sense coming from witcher 3.

Come on. Since when are Japanese anime heroines expected to develop like real people. The main function of a Japanese anime heroine is to look sexy and attractive, be brave and know martial arts. Everyone knows this. The fact it is set in the world of middle Earth is irrelevant. It’s a Japanese anime and to be frank with you, that’s the only thing making it worth watching. I wouldn’t be going to see it otherwise. At least the women and girls don’t all have to be ugly.

I just hope this doesnt turn out like the witcher where it was good at the start and then slowly turned woke to the point where Henry left. If hes the director this time around, then it should have a much better fighting chance than witcher where he was only an actor against the director, even tho he knew more witcher lore then the director and was genuinely passionate about the IP

What I am doing is judging an adaptation by it's faithfulness to the source material, and when it has deviated this far just in prerelease media from said source material that makes it a bad adaptation. Especially when we were told they would be faithful to Tolkien's work. And this is not something the full release of the show will fix, you can't unscramble these eggs.

She can, a talented and dedicated woman (especially with training) can absolutely defeat men, including ones bigger than her. Bladed weapons make a big difference. Now she is going to be a damn big disadvantage, that skill and technique would need to offset, which also includes an assumed lack of skill and technique on his part. Fighting with blades is fundamentally different from a boxing match. Size and sex certainly still matter, but way less than a boxing match, and the longer the blades get (to a certain extent) the more that advantage decreases, it never goes away or reverses, but it becomes less of the pie chart of reasons you're screwed.

In the last discussion I had about Astrid's race swap I asked "If it's 'so important to have representation' then why is it okay to take that representation away from white girls?" and the response was that white girls have plenty of movie roles already and they shouldn't complain. So, the standard Marxist redistrution of wealth, but movie roles instead of wealth. It descended from there (of course) to where I was told I should be satisfied with identifying with the white part of a mixed-race actor which sounds like old-school Southern racism with terms like 'octaroon' and 'quadroon' at play. I do think a race swap tends to be more acceptable if the actor involved has a high celebrity status, e.g., few cared that Sam Jackson took the role of Nick Fury since Jackson is a popular actor. Of two actors who have played Nick Fury, who do you want, Sam Jackson or David Hasselhoff?
