I have one that works but the all- in one hi fi unit is no more, like yours. Can I buy any DC 12 volt adapter and join the wires with a connecting block to give my turntable a power supply do you think.

Thanks for doing this. A wobbly jack can also cause crackling. I recommend tightening the nut as tight as you can. Also, you must have both washers in place (inside and out). I also made sure, after looking at several videos, that the back of the aluminum stem inside the jack is facing toward the bottom of the bass body. In other words, if the bass is on your lap, the back of the stem should be facing the floor. And make sure all wires are safely tucked into the cavity. 😊

I just got this exact model, NOS :D Thank you for sharing your experience. I am going to try to put the tranfsormer inside - because there is a mounting space for it - Version PS-LX56 was made with standard mains power cord and integrated 12DC trafo. Also there should be "power" switch, but I think I can live without it :)

I have a slight issue with mine where MIDI data going into the DrumKid gives me audible clicking on the audio out. Nothing a noise gate cant fix tho, and a noise gate is lovely to use with DrumKid. I love this drum machine so much, its great for playing live fills n stuff, and the complete random beat/sounds option is much fun.

What's the best way to sync with pocket operator? Easy? Which is the msster/slave? Is it possible to use D10 & sacrifice tap-tempo?
@BradshawInstruments
@BradshawInstruments Жыл бұрын
So, the only built-in method of sync (without doing any coding/hacking/mods) is via MIDI, which Drumkid can send or receive, but I believe Pocket Operators use simple 5V pulses instead, which probably means there's no direct way to sync the two without involving another piece of gear somehow. However, if you don't mind a bit of hacking (which I'm guessing since you've figured out which pin the tap tempo button is connected to!), it should be totally possible. You could look for the line "Serial.write(0xF8)" (MIDI clock output) and output a 5V pulse on D10 at the same time, which would make Drumkid the master. You could also look for the line "else if(thisMidiByte==0xF8)", which is where the code reads an incoming MIDI clock signal, and try and replicate what happens there but in response to an input signal on D10, but this might be a bit more complex because you'd also have to remove the tap tempo button code etc. If you're not fussed about MIDI at all, I think you could even disable the serial read/write and use the MIDI ports to send/receive simple sync data. Hope this wasn't too overwhelming a reply!! Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks! Yeah, it's definitely the most-requested feature and is top of the list for version two, whenever that happens. Have got a prototype in the works with higher-quality audio, sync in/out, and a more robust case (as well as a Eurorack version), but kids are taking up a lot of my time right now, so it won't be until maybe summer 2023. Keep an eye on this channel or my mailing list for news :)

Nice job, Matt. The machine popped up on my Instagram account this morning and I instantly purchased. I do a lot of noise based sampling and drones in the manner of TG, SPK, Test Dept, etc (my youth) and I've been looking for an easy to use drum machine. I have four already but I'm always defeated by the programming of them. I just don't have the patience! At 63 my brain isn't as agile as it was so this looks more immediately useful to me! Thanks for putting it together.

Hey! I built the drumkit this week and it worked brilliantly for a few days. But now it stopped working out of no where, when i turn it on only the left most light turns on and it does not respond to any button pressing or turning. Also no audio comes out anymore. Do you have any idea on what part could be broken so i can fix it?

They're really just voltage control inputs to a softsynth. How about a modular design where each module is a separate digital processor, connected to each other digitally, and the only DAC is the final line out to recorder, speaker, or whatever? That's what I was looking for.

Glad I found this vid. I disassembled my bass, mainly to shield it, but also to look into a noisy, crackly jack. Took care of the shielding, but didn't think to clean the jack. I didn't think that was my problem. Hooked it up and the crackles were still there. I see now, I'll have to take it apart again and try cleaning inside the jack. Thanks much for the vid 😁
