What kills me is that the mixer duct was replaced at all. Its a very simple part that can be readily cleaned and put back into service. I do replace that plug and chase the threads during the repair but customer got taken for a ride on the parts train.

I'm not even a mechanic my first guess was going to be the air filter and if it wasn't going to be the air filter is going to be the emission system. Honestly being that needed such a horrible job doing proper maintenance I would have charged them for a brand new air filter because that thing was flatlined and rigor mortis has set in.

Just delete the egr and dpf filter and problem solved
