@HawaiiJetboat3 ай бұрын
Aloha! Go for the GPS for sure, it may be the best upgrade you can do. The two gauges on the dash (Tach and Speedo) are still working but I have had to replace a switch on the dash. I think it was the switch for the Night/Navigation lights. Good Luck!

Yeah I talked to Yamaha support and this is a common issue. They said most shops have a tool made by a welder. However this is really a good idea. I am gonna try it after I clean the plug and the housing with scotch brite pad.

Hi Scott, have you ever checked the anode on your Yamaha engine? I tried to pull out mine, but I couldn't. Maybe you have a trick to pull it out.. I want to check if Saltaway really works. This link shows the video of Jetboat Pilot kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqq2k62QfL-sqbcfeature=shared

What grease do you pump in for the midshaft bearing bud?
@HawaiiJetboat Жыл бұрын
Aloah, I just use a Marine Grade grease and go easy on the amount of pumps you do. First thing, eyeball your gun as to how much grease a single pump will inject. Then judge the ease of the first pump going in as to how many more you do. You do not want to blow through the seals. You may also want to practice on your trailer bearing buddies to watch the effect of pumping a little or a lot so you get the feel. Again do not over-pump, these are not grease fittings, you are just trying to maintain the grease on the lips of the seals. Good Luck!
@jttribe7683 Жыл бұрын
@HawaiiJetboat I figure 2-3 pumps would be safe. Thanks buddy!

I run my boat also and saltwater but I don't have the corrosion that you do because someone suggested to me to use chainwax it stays on in the saltwater for like 6 months they use it for Motocross
@rickurt17 ай бұрын
Agree. That's what I was told when I purchased my boat. Chain wax in some areas, and silicone in others. But I also like Scott's idea of using grease. I'll grease a lot of parts this summer.

Great vid! Will running the motor at high speed without the reduction nozzle cause it to over heat? (I have a quick connect because I run a flyboard off my port engine and when it was time to leave I thought it would be okay to hook back up the reduction nozzle on land but it over heated and shut off) I’m thinking it’s either because A. the lack of pressure caused my prop to spin at much higher RPM and over heated the engine or B. The lack of pressure didn’t allow enough water to be forced into the cooling system which is flush on the side wall of the prop or possibly both of these scenarios. Anyway I’m trying to make sure this is indeed why my engine over heated in the first place and not something else all together
@HawaiiJetboat Жыл бұрын
Now that is something I've not thought about but sounds super fun! You are correct about the loss of pressure as the likely source of the overheat trigger. Question: Does the flyboard attachment have it's own reduction nozzle and does that motor/pump continue to bypass water out of the side like normal? If so then all should be good. I'm assuming that you run both engine/pumps like normal to your spot and then make the switch to the Flyboard set up and then would have to reverse the process for the return. If you elect to return with only the one engine for power (leaving the flyboard attachment in place during the return) you should consider a block off of some kind to prevent the forward motion of the boat from sending water up through the system of the other non running engine. The down and dirty ez method would be to unhook the rubber hose from the sand filter inlet and plug it for the ride home. A more permanent method is to plumb an inline valve into the cooling hose that feeds the raw water to the engine. This would be inside the engine compartment. Good Luck!

How did you know the t-stat is faulty? What are the symptoms that I need to look for ?
@HawaiiJetboat Жыл бұрын
Good question and the answer is: Boat went into Yamaha's "Limp Mode" and the overheat alarm went off. Limp Mode restricts the engine RPM to a max of 3K Rpm no matter the throttle position. It's supposed to get you back to a safe spot without damaging the engine.

Aloha from Kansas, one question, do you need a boat license in Hawaii to own/ rent
@HawaiiJetboat Жыл бұрын
Aloha! Other than renting a pontoon or whaler from the Marina on Kaneohe Marine Corps Base there are no rentals other than kayaks. Owning doesnt require any license but does require the Standard Registration for Boat, Trailer and yearly ramp fees plus the trailer has to be inspected yearly which is another fee.
