@@JasonHenderson-w8m hi Jason, there's no 'official' minimum age for using it - in my view, get your two heptavac doses out of the way first, give it a clear 3 weeks after the second dose for the immune response to the heptavac be done and dusted, then use it any time from then onwards. A friend of mine has told me shorn lambs have had less problems with B12 than unshorn. Could this be because of sunlight absorption or just coincidence?
@shropshirefarmvets233723 күн бұрын
@@davethehat hi Dave, that's a new one on me I'm afraid! B12 is produced from cobalt in the rumen so I can't see directly why shearing would have an effect, although it might increase their overall intakes if done at the right time. 🤔 Happy to receive people's experience on this though!

On DIY fec do you count all eggs in every square or count all eggs in one square then multiply by grid? Also is it a case of only counting certain types of eggs or most common or damaging for time of year
@shropshirefarmvets2337Ай бұрын
@@erikgrimley5519 hi Eric, you would could all eggs in every square - I'll put a link to a site which explains it very well! In terms of distinguishing eggs, of all of the damaging worms that sheep have it's only nematodirus that you can reliably differentiate under the microscope, the others all look the same. But since those other species are all bad for the lamb, you can count them all together without needing to individually speciate them. Hope that makes sense! www.rvc.ac.uk/static/review/parasitology/EggCount/Calculation.htm

Going throug some of your older videos being a newer viewer. What would be good would be advice on how much feed by way of creep is likely to cause acidosis. Also any chance of a video on how over feeding creep at a young age in sheep can cause the liver to be ruined in an older animal show sheep that were lambs are prime example stuffed for condition

I believed you could only use footvax pre tupping and not post tupping, so thanks for that! You say can be used a month before lambing but how long post tupping should you leave it before vaccinating?
@shropshirefarmvets23372 ай бұрын
@@erikgrimley5519 it's not specifically contraindicated around tupping, but it's always advised to leave ewes alone for at least 3 weeks after the tups come out, to make sure embryo implantation has taken place before any disruption. So I would say give it a month after the tups are out 👍🏼
