This was hard to watch, wish he could have walked away from the drugs and booze, his guitar style made REO the band that it was, he took Kevin's folk lyrics and turned them into iconic rock songs,RIP Gary.

I miss him! The music just flowed outta his soul. He played with such ease. His style was like a gentle mountain stream but man when he needed it... he sure could shred it!!!! Saw him with REO he 3-4 times. Loved it.... he is in my personal top 5 guitarist.

Gary wass my first inspiration to play guitar. REO ( the early years better than after the tuna fish album imo ). Such fun they had as a band, I saw them at the first Monsters of Rock tour in Milwaukee and the energy was fantastic, the band was always tight and sounded freakin great!

He sounded good. Still had that great "Gary Tone" to his sound. Sounded liked he'd overcome his "demons" and was living his best life by this point.

Saw REO in mid 80s Charlotte, NC. Richrath could do no wrong that night. He had 2 broke strings during one part of the show but just kept on hammering out an incredible solo man!!

One of my favorite concerts, ever, was hearing them play a rip roaring set at tiny Bowman Fieldhouse on the campus of Depauw University during their big spring party weekend (Little 500) in rural Indiana. Styx opened for them!. Richrath was THE man in that band at that time, and his guitar playing was their focus, although the rest of the band were also at the top of their game - - REO's very best days! I swear they'd play anywhere ... and did. They were our band (midwesterners)!!!
