I’m skinny fat and struggle badly as when try to get muscle I get fat and when try to reduce fat I lost muscles.

I’ve been stock at 194-197. I’ve lost 100 pounds so far in 3 years and I’ve been stock at that weight for over a year. Up and down. I lost 2 pounds two weeks ago then the following week I gained 5 pounds. I can’t believe I’m eating that much that I could gain 5 pounds in 7 days while working out as I been doing for years and eating as I’ve been eating. To be able to gain 5 pounds that’s a lots of calories. I’m to the point that I’m thinking about over eating on purpose and gaining weight because why bother eating healthy if I’m going to gain weight so might as well if i enjoy the ride!

Okay lady! I'm well over 6mins into this 12½min video, and STILL waiting for the thing to stop to stay lean forever. I'm calling CLICKBAIT. 😠
@IvanaChapman9 сағат бұрын
Not only do I actively describe the steps to take, but I explain that “staying lean forever” is about changing how you think about food and exercise. Finding a sustainable way of living, rather than going on extreme diets and doing long punishing workouts…which is what most people THINK it takes. Not sure what magic you were hoping for, but it’s there if you listen carefully.
@LeMotMista9 сағат бұрын
@IvanaChapman I actually have watched many of your videos and find yours to be among the better health/fitness channels on KZbin. Even this video offers solid, actionable advice. My beef is that your TITLE leads us to expect you will identify ONE particular culprit whose elimination will lead to and perhaps even guarantee leanness [Quit THIS…] - But no such single fix is given, not up to the video's halfway point anyway, which is where I called "CLICKBAIT" and fled… 🤨
@IvanaChapman9 сағат бұрын
I’m glad you appreciate my channel, generally. 😉 If you want to break it down to one thing, then “THIS” is: thinking of diet and exercise as something that needs to be extreme to achieve results (when the REAL key is developing something sustainable for you). That’s how I thought about it when I was planning the title. And I truly believe that is the difference between people who fail at fat loss and those who stay lean forever.

In Hungary they do it without any sedations! So that is why i never went to, i have panic sickness and i cannot take ANY weird thing that happens in or with my body so ....i never go to any doctor. In Hungary they are very unfriendly and everything is very old-fashioned. All the good docs left the country for more money in the west...

Progress not perfection is my phrase for this year. 2024 was been a challenge with a torn Achilles and being peri menopausal. Weight gain and not being able to lose it no matter what I do has been a challenge. So trying to change my mindset. Love that you said that! Your videos are informative and encouraging! Thanks!

Any suggestions about the recently publicized study on protein powders often found to be high in lead and cadmium?
@IvanaChapman22 сағат бұрын
Lots of thoughts! This was not a peer-reviewed study, but a report by The Clean Label Project. They have a history of fear-mongering and not sharing the source of their “data”. They also profit from the use of their label, which isn’t overseen by any governing body.

I'm 22 and eating at a calorie defecit of about 1500-1700. My body fat is ~28% but struggling to add strength training since I'm a runner and run about 4-5 times a week (30min to 2hr runs) on top of work and school. Wish me luck y'all (and tips if you've got em) 😅 😅

this is awesome. Thank you! What if it's portion size that's the issue? (I eat healthy without issue) but it's the eating to being stuffed which is an issue. It's partially psychological and habit I know...
@IvanaChapmanКүн бұрын
Yes, everything with food is at least partially psychological...that's why it's so hard sometimes! I suffered from what you're describing (overeating on healthy, and sometimes less-healthy, food) for a long time. The solution is dealing with what may be troubling you (we ALL have something!) and then also taking practical steps like setting portion sizes for foods or time limits. It can take some time to build new positive habits where negative habits exist. It's something I've been thinking about for an upcoming video actually! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
@RogerCoffin-y7h18 сағат бұрын
Appreciate that. Maybe the other thing to address (I’ve been down this road 😊) is the difficulty of when “cutting calories become maintenance” as you lose weight and the realization that you’re not going back to your old habits and eating volume. That got me last time. I wanted to get rid of visible fat on belly and back. I’m 5’7” and was 145. Got down to 127 - and could still see fat (which shocked me). I gave up and with my metabolism being so slowed popped back to 145.
@IvanaChapman9 сағат бұрын
I’ve spoken about this in a few videos, but I’m planning one specifically about losing the last 10 pounds and you made an important point. As you lose weight, what was a calorie deficit becomes maintenance. It’s not so much that you’ve done something to your metabolism but a body that weighs 127 won’t burn as many calories as a body that weighs 145. Normally losing weight and still seeing more fat than you expect is because you haven’t built muscle, or you’ve lost some during the weight loss process.

Ivana, thank you for your balanced approach to a healthy diet. I like that you say that no foods are forbidden... That we may eat caloric dence foods in small amounts. For me, your approach is sustainable.

Good morning ☀️ just love all of your excellent information. I have acid reflux too, I’ve been battling this for years. Raw honey helps (1 teaspoon am & Pm) I stay away of from spicy, never liked them anyway. I’ve learned to use lactaid ice cream & love the gluten & dairy free milks. Salmon & avocados are a big favorite. I also enjoy coconut frozen yoghurt. I’m currently trying to take off approximately 30 lbs & want to thank you for all of your helpful tips. I walk on a regular basis and do small amounts of weight training, hoping to be where I need to be around may 😊 Listening to you, helps me stay on track. Thank you from the bottom of my heart love, Joy from New Jersey. 👏🏻🌟🥰 ps ~ you’re right consistency is the word not perfect! 🥰

5lb of weight is 17500 calories so if you trained 5x a week for an hour ( 300 calories) it would take 58 hours over 8.2 weeks. THATS THE REALITY. And you can't eat any extra fat. You need to be totally strict with your diet .

Just found your channel and have been catching up on your content. Good stuff! I’m an athletic 50 y/o woman who eats well , active all my life , weight trains , etc, but struggles to reduce body fat from 25% as I’m 125lbs. Recomp is a very long process and I’ve been steadily down from 30% at the same weight. It’s taken me 2 years to do this! I started taking HRT after finding out I have no hormones anymore, as in lab value non detectable. I appreciate your view as most content creators focus on those who need to lose a great deal of weight or are new to this journey. Losing those last 5-10 lbs is a special process!
@IvanaChapmanКүн бұрын
Yes! The last 10lbs is definitely the hardest. Congrats on your progress and I hope the rest of your journey goes well.
