I am intrigued by the gloves worn by the instructor. And, indeed, he seems to be an excellent instructor. Maybe his wife insisted that he wore them so that he wasn’t seen picking his nose on camera.

Hey! Great channel, I'm also going to be learning with Fly Illawarra. I was just curious as to what you used to mount your camera and how in the Jabiru? I was wanting to record the lessons but also don't want the camera (assuming go pro) to be a distraction.

It's about energy management and placing, and keeping, the airplane on the center line. That last landing was a good example. Even though you were coming in on a short final, curving, you had that stick back deep at touch down and were in the middle. Almost all of my time was tailwheel and with 3-point landings. In that equipment and regime you learn this very quickly. Have it stop flying at touch down with the stick back. You'll get it!

Landing should be automatic, and engines should make the going down speed slower and slower as getting closer to the ground.

any chance you could lower the music volume in future videos? Turning the volume up to hear the conversation only to have extremely loud music come blasting through is extremely annoying and distracting. Having to constantly ride the volume control is even more annoyance. Background music belongs in the background. Hopefully you have learned this in the 6 years since you made these videos. BTW I enjoyed the video portion even though I was annoyed every time the music came blasting through so I probably won't watch any more.

Nice. That is as far as I can tell, an awesome instructor. I’ve had some I’d like to throw out the door with no parachute, but it really comes down to how someone reacts to noob mistakes and teaches. True, we new pilots are most often a PITA, but having gone through a few certifications, I’ve learned that it’s ok to say, “this instructor isn’t working for me” and move on to someone who does. Nothing wrong with that IMO as long as it’s not me who is the a-hole in the scenario. I’ve been fortunate to have some awesome instructors, but also encountered a few that were just counterproductive to my personal learning style.

Haven't had any bad landings where i would go "whoah" per say, but been close for it to go from a "normal" feeling landing to "unnormal" enough times that i respect the possibility for things to go south real quick if you are not focused.

Basically I fly the same way I ride a dirt bike. Yeah you might bend it up a bit but you can hang it on the prop and bounce It off the runway. Don't be afraid to go sideways. Planes are more durable than people give them credit for.. You can be completely out of control and still pull it off. The gauges are just for reference. You can feel when the thing stops flying.

For my flight school, most of those landings are go around because they are almost off the runway, not centerline, or the instructor would take the control on all of them, you should buy some nice gift for that instructor for being super cool.
