@Leo70780 thank you. No, it's not a stock filter. I put a cone filter instead of a stock airbox on mine for better induction noise. Makes it feel a bit quicker on the top end of the Rev range. Possibly a plasibo effect due to more noise 😆

The engine is slightly bigger, and the exterior and interior has slight changes. 2002 had better headlights and slight hp increase. Earlier 320s had a bit better gas mileage than the 350s.

also do i absolutely have to replace the solenoid when i do my trans change??
@gasNgears
@gasNgears Ай бұрын
@jaylanhowrll3839 the solenoid is suggested only because it does leak overtime (if it's not leaking now) saves the trouble of messing with it all over again later. But upto you completely, if it's not leaking you could potentially get away without doing it for now, however it's a gamble I personally wouldn't take.

Just like bmw life proof fluid, no need to change and then suddenly upon mechanical failure, they'd be happy to sell you a new transmission for 7 grands or more. I've put on roughly 10k after the fluid change, and it's been fantastic. I don't think any fluid would last transmission life term, to be honest.

No bottle with some fluid to cover the hose to prevent air bubbles?
@gasNgears
@gasNgears 2 ай бұрын
Hey bud, the air is coming is out of the brake lines so bottle won't do much in getting the air out. It's the pressure build up from pumping the pedal and then release / closing the bleeder valve that matters the most. You can buy a bottle from the shop to do it or do it this way, it's the same in my opinion. Cheers.

Just out of curiosity, how could you tell? The oil came out within specs, the water pump side is turning perfectly fine, the shaft/blades looked decent and in the last 10k kms, I've had zero performance issues (with a 17% pulley). Are you referring to the blades making noise ! Go pro cameras mic is quite sensitive, and may be the blades pushing air gave you the idea that gears might be shot! Please share your thoughts so it can be helpful to someone else who is looking to do this job as well! Cheers.

I just did this job and its was super easy. Glad I watched the video beforehand. One thing that helped me was that I put a big (plastic) mirror against the firewall that help see behind the engine. I took the time to replace a few dried out/dry rotted vacuum hoses on the solenoid, also unclogged the clogged vacuum port that the brake booster vacuum line goes to near the throttle body. Cleaned the throttle body and put it all back together. Instead of RTV on the gasket, I just coated it with silicone grease as Silicone grease won’t harm it like petroleum based grease would and it stuck to the gasket groove like a charm, so thanks for the tip on that. Now, on to the to the leaking valve cover breather gaskets.

I noticed that you took a copper-colored metal piece out of the housing and didn't put it back in. (at 4:35 the piece that I was referring to is sitting right next to the nuts) I did this job a while ago and also noticed that small metal piece, but didn't know what that is nor what does it do. Before I put the new filter back in, I left that metal piece inside the housing. I'm curious that since you didn't put that piece back in, does it affect anything at all? I'm just about to do the fuel pump replacement cuz it died on me, and your video is the most straight forward I can find. Really appreciated!
