This was great, and somehow the only tutorial I could find on the internet to do anything like this! I had gotten a dud light bulb I got from Amazon stuck in my original bubble light and was able to use this tutorial to fix it. My only suggestion would be to link to the exact item, color and size of every item on the website. I ordered Zinc versions of a couple connectors and they didn't have the same threads, etc. But thank you so much for this!

Wondering the same thing as some of the other comments. How do you remove the cable out of the original bulb socket, to replace the cord? Would love to see a video on how to do that.

Are these able to be swagged? My connection socket in the ceiling is not directly over my dining room table, so I'd have to run the cord over about a foot to center the pendant above my dining room table.

Didn't work. I'm trying to plug 2 wires (black & ivory) into e12 socket. The wires don't simply slide in, as they enter perpendicular to the metal face within the socket female connection.

You said black positive wire. There is no 'positive' or 'negative'. It's AC not DC. They alternate being positive and negative relative to each other. The RMS potential difference between the black is supposed to be greater than the white relative to the ground wire, hence why it's usually called the HOT side.

When he says 'neutral' referring to the first screw and the green wire, he meant 'ground' wire / screw. Pretty obvious, but that mistake could be very confusing to people who aren't familiar with electrical work, and who are watching this video for instructional purposes!

I have a 2 port canopy. Do I wire by combining all like wires from the fixture to the junction box with individual wire nuts?

Terrible electrical work. When using wiring nuts, align the trimmed ends, put them into the wire nut and twist. You may feel the wire nut bottom out - keep going. The wires coming together should wrap around each other twice before you stop twisting the wire nut. Do NOT use electrical tape. Use the right size wire nut for the wires. Do NOT pre twist the wires together - you may end up untwisting them with the wire nut. Let the wire nut do the work.

I wanted to say this is a great tutorial but it presumes (without showing how) that you can remove the existing cord hardware from the pendant. In my experience this piece seems to be glued together making the installation as pictured here impossible. However, I’d love to hear how it’s done if someone has succeeded.

How can you mount it so that the bulb is facing up (not hanging)?
@colorcord
@colorcord 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Thank you for watching! To mount the sockets so that they are facing up, you would essentially need to sandwich the ring between a 1" All Thread and thread on couplers to each side. This should allow the socket to sit facing up and be in a fixed position. Here are those DIY Lamp Parts: All Thread: www.colorcord.com/products/1-8-ips-all-thread-nipple?variant=39290359611494 Couplers: www.colorcord.com/products/3-8-coupler?variant=12363339956326 Feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any further questions or concerns!

How long is drying time? And should it be suspended in the air as it dries, so the string doesnt get gooped on the bottom? I planned to make some of these for a while now but the time has come! Thanks
@colorcord
@colorcord 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Thanks for watching! 24 hours is the recommended dry time! We let it dry for 24 hours in a suspended position, but if you need it to dry quicker you can use a hairdryer at medium fan speed at high heat. Feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you have any further questions or concerns!

Hello! how much cord should I buy for this light to look as pictured?
@colorcord
@colorcord 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick! Thanks for watching! The cord length depends on several different things: 1. The size of the beam. 2. Number of wraps preferred around the beam per pendant. 3. The length you wish to have the pendants drop below the beam. In the case of this project it was roughly 15-20ft of cord (keep in mind you can cut the cord down if that is too much). We'd recommend acquiring the beam first and then go from there!

waaaaait a second . . . so you are telling me my mounting bracket can extend OVER the wall material?! I thought it all had to be INSIDE the box! This might really help me out as my wall material is 1" boards and my husband told me everything had to be mounted to 1/4" from the edge . . . makes it a real trick to get things installed correctly! All of the mounting hardware that came with my lights fit INSIDE the box . . . but I did buy 2 new ones and these have telescoping arms, which didn't make any sense to me at that time, but maybe they might be worth trying! PS . . . why is your light box so wiggly?? Maybe because mine are spray foamed in they don't move and normally they might??
