I feel that a lot of people are missing the “criminal” part of “criminally insane”. These aren’t just mental patients, they are people who have proven through violent crime that they can’t coexist uncared for in society. In the modern day you can find such people lighting others on fire aboard the new york city subway. Was the way this facility handled its patients acceptable? No. Is the way we “handle” these issues today any better? No.

Have you suffered from shin splints at all? As a fellow fat and lazy man I've started training for the GNR this year and almost immediately fallen at the first hurdle despite starting off really slowly. (30-40 minute interval runs of 1 minute running 3 minutes walking). I've lived a very sedentary life prior to this and sit down all day for my job so I'm putting it down to having underdeveloped leg muscles but its really demotivating to be doing so little and be suffering so badly.

It'll take time! but it will be worth it. It took me a couple months to be able to run my 5k. your body will learn how to handle it in time. You're making a really positive change mate!

Good luck mate. I’ve started a similar challenge but only managed 3.5km on my first run in almost 2 years. Agree that running is one of the best things you can do but always sounds soppy talking about it.

My most listened to artist in my late teens, but it's pretty depressing to go back and listen to him since then. Thanks for the nostalgia trip. A few years ago I heard Big Star for the first time, one of Elliott's influences, and damn he sounds just like him. Check out the song I'm In Love With A Girl (if you dont know it already).

That Guy Jim is literally roaring because he can't fight back in defence. His basic self preservation instinct is being eroded and while he's a witness to it, he's totally incapable of doing anything to prevent it. DEEP STUFF

Welcome to where time stands still No one leaves and no one will Moon is full, never seems to change Just labelled mentally deranged Dream the same thing every night I see our freedom in my sight No locked doors, no windows barred No things to make my brain seem scarred Sleep my friend, and you will see The dream is my reality They keep me locked up in this cage Can't they see it's why my brain says rage? Sanitarium Leave me be Sanitarium Just leave me alone Build my fear of what's out there Cannot breathe the open air Whisper things into my brain Assuring me that I'm insane They think our heads are in their hands But violent use brings violent plans Keep him tied, it makes him well He's getting better, can't you tell? No more can they keep us in Listen, damn it, we will win They see it right, they see it well But they think this saves us from our hell Sanitarium Leave me be Sanitarium Just leave me alone Sanitarium (Just leave me alone) Fear of living on Natives getting restless now Mutiny in the air Got some death to do Mirror stares back hard Kill, it's such a friendly word Seems the only way For reaching out again

I as a kid also got all that meaning, one of my favorites characters, and more from the 90's anime, and if someone manage to make kids understand such deep concepts with their characters and the world they exist, they surely are epic writters. such a wonderful world.

This film is tragically edited. A lot of its entirety is missing, such as the guy who is force fed with a latex tube with the diameter of a freaking garden hose. I saw this film in a psychology lecture hall in New Hampshire, somewhere around 2003 I think. Titicut Follies was filmed at Bridgewater State Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. It was made in 1967 I believe.

Snufkin enabled me as a child, to go on the most amazing fantastic side-fantasy-journey's of life that i'm forever grateful of. I've never been more happy in my life then warm inside my nest with my sister next to me hugging, watching Moomins and just feeling bliss and loved and free and crazy and possible to do anything!

Mental afflictions are a horrible thing. Stay away from alcohol & drugs. Safeguard yourself. Try to eat right & get sleep & exercise. Don't be around narcissists. They will stress you out and the stress can damage your internal organs and your teeth.

I remember watching the documentary many years ago. Poor Jim was being taunted by staff to wind him up more. The head of the unit had a constant facial twitch and amongst other behaviour looked as if he needed admitting as a patient.

i have an embarrassing story that's related to snufkin. Tomorrow is halloween as i type this and I plan on dressing up as Snufkin for halloween. But sadly my mother threw away the hat for my costume and I got severely angry that she threw it away. snufkin represents freedom to me and my mother has always been dictating my life, so having her throw away a symbol of freedom devastated me.... Also that costume for him costed 100$.

Somehow, I think Snufkin would have let go of the hat rather more easily.

The quote i beginning is about living in the moment, you don't take anything with you, not even a picture as you carry the memory in your mind. Let's say you go for the first time to the most beautiful scenery known to man. You don't take any memorabilia with you, not photo, not rock, not anything. Only the memory of what you saw
