4:28 I have never seen ANYONE do a frame/bike comparison like this “fading” back and forth between the frames. Like you, I find the Scott nomenclature very confusing and , well, lazy! Although I am writing this in 2025, I am considering buying a Scott (I had an Addict RC back in 2010) when it was their only road-race bike in their bike family.

This is where the algorithm sent me, and this is perfect. Except for using the term "cog" to mean both the gears and the teeth on the gears. Cogs are teeth. Gears are wheels. Even if the definition is shifting over time, it doesn't necessarily follow 1) that this a good thing, or 2) that it's correct to overload the term in mixed usage. To be fair, you did drop a disclaimer at the beginning. So, I dunno. I understood what you were saying. The script was well-written and the subject was presented well; it's interesting and informative, and just what I was looking for. And you didn't shout at me and blast music in my face. But, man, come on. "Fish is Fish." ---Leo Lionni

Good video. Thanks. But why do you and so many other bicycle people call the gears "cogs?" Cogs are teeth.
@bikotic
@bikotic Ай бұрын
@@WalterBurton In cycling, cogs are the individual gears located on the rear wheel of a bicycle, collectively forming a cassette or freewheel. They are toothed rings that engage with the bike chain to provide different gear ratios, allowing riders to adjust their pedaling effort depending on terrain and speed. Larger cogs: Have more teeth and provide easier gears for climbing hills. Smaller cogs: Have fewer teeth and provide harder gears for faster riding on flat terrain. Cogs are part of the drivetrain and work with the chain, chainrings, and derailleur to shift gears smoothly.

I’ve had Cadex hookless rims for 12 months. Stayed within the pressure suggested by Cadex from their website. And only use tyres recommended by Cadex on their site. Never had a problem. 800 kms a month average. Average club rider. 95 kg. Giant revolt 0. I have witnessed friends putting above the recommended psi and non recommended tyres on hookless rimes with terrible results. I use a cheap electric compressor to start the inflation of the tyres and they stay sealed and it can be difficult to break the seal. Zipp wheels seem to have a problem from what I’ve witnessed from another rider. I’m a late convert to tubeless wheels and rims , this is my first pair and love them.

I bought Paradox bike for a simple reason. To get me out of cosy sofa and fitter. It does the job perfectly. What's the point in spending a lot of money just to find out after a month that you don't like going on a bike anymore?

In the past one of my siblings had an extremely cheap suspensioned mb from halfords, it was never used in the end I started using it & although it was extremely uncomfortable for long rides I managed to clock up over a hundred miles on it one day (Warwickshire to Redditch), providing everything is okay a bicycle is a bicycle everything else is either comfort related or better quality 1:58

Great video! I've recently had this happen. I learned that the compression plugs need to be longer. It's important to measure at the top of the stem to the top headtube bearing and ensure that the compression plug passes that top bearing. In some cases you may need a 90-100mm compression plug depending on spaces. This will strengthen the fork steerer when tightened at the stem.

I've got a pretty early straight top tube frame 5 pro from 2004-5, matt black paint, XT triple and full group with 160mm discs, fox float 100, hope hubs, wtb rims, and some orange and tioga finishing gear since swapped out for hope, raceface and thomson stuff. Great bike, I'm in the process of converting it to 1x11 Deore M5100 so I can ride it again for XC and my kids use it from time to time. An oldie, but a goodie and still keeps up on all but the roughest of stuff.

buyer beware: Wow look at the nice new shiny bike, it’s a beautiful piece of German engineering, but I want to let you know of my experience with Canyon Aeroad CF SL8. I too was delighted with the thought of a sophisticated bike at a reasonable price point. It came with a 6 year warranty, but that warranty is useless. I have logged over 30 thousand miles on my Specialized Allez with no major issues, I have replaced the gear cable for the rear derailleur a couple of times and the tires only once. My 11 month canyon had to have the bottom bracket replaced after only 5,000 miles. I reported this to Canyon and they are blaming me for not taking proper care of my bike. I loved this bike and looked after it accordingly. Washed at least once a week (no pressure wash) locked in the garage overnight and stored in the basement during the winter. After finding a mechanic who would repair my bike (most technician won’t ever look at a Canyon) he told me that the bottom bracket is a cheap one that has no seal against water and debris intrusion. It breaks my heart to have to write this but if I can at least help one person with this it will be worth it. Canyon did offer me a $75.00 voucher on their web site but to me thats useless.

If you like Lake CX242 then why not trying CX238 with microfiber upper version? (they both are similar fit except 242 has heat moldable heel) I think microfiber upper version is not that light, but probably lighter than the full grain leather model like the one you got.
