Ha! If that was my other half asking for a quilted cape two weeks before an event, I would have responded with "Well you go make one then!" That is one thing that I have always loved about the SCA actually- men being able to sew their own costumes (or at least willing to learn) is highly respected! The men in our local groups regularly compare their sewing projects and boast to each other when they make their own fencing garb or fighting gamberson! My favourite story is that of our former Baron and Baroness. They had a medieval themed wedding back in the 80s, and he spent more money on the fabric for his wedding outfit (and made it himself) than she did!

Your outfits were amazing! I loved watching how you rolled your hair. I saw pictures of my aunt with those 40's hair styles. What a wonderful experience! The USO put on some wonderful events for the troops back then. There were pictures in our family album of these shows with Bob Hope among others. My father served in both WW11 and the Korean wars.

While she could have rivaled any woman on the big screen. They were both just that glamorous! I do think it's wonderful how you and your husband went to such an awesome event. To do the dancing! Surely during the Regency a man's evening dress required knee breeches?
@HistoricalBelleАй бұрын
@@tabithaormiston-smith590 The Regency period is from 1795-1837. During the early regency period, until the 1810’s, yes breeches were the standard for men’s evening dress, but then in the mid 1810’s pants come onto the scene and transition begins. I’m sure it was a debate in many ballrooms as to appropriate attire, as men showed up in pants vs breeches, but by the end of the regency most men were wearing pants as formal dress and only older men were wearing breeches.
