This was a great video. I have always bent my legs and stayed low. However, I always shoot straight up, especially on the forehand. And people will tell you to move your weight into the ball. This drill made me realize that the movement comes from the hip. I definitely felt it in my right hip with just doing the drill at home. I also tend to come to the ball late and my should does not come out in front. I think with these two things in mind, I will hit cleaner. Thank you!

I also noticed that the moment the ball bounce the ground is also the moment the racquet drop the lowest.

I like this video he does a good job. I played tennis and I guess probably like a low division one level and I’m a teaching pro now. I’ve been teaching for 20 years and in my experiences you’re very much at the mercy of the students ability. Some people just cannot swing a racket if their life depended on it. 🤣

Great video, well done coach. I think it is important to remember to choose a racquet with enough plough and stability to assist with the contact and the follow through of the ohb. Players with ohb generally employ racquets with very high swingweights.

Dude, bravo! You are the first online teacher who can clearly present the secret to lag and power. I call the lever/hammer the load. And just like you, I advise newbies to pre-load where you do. I tell them to drive the load, the forearm with the racket lagging almost through impact. This does require the body to turn to deliver the load. The release can be flat, slice or top. Early release of the racket head is pretty much the single biggest error in tennis. You need to get hold of Coco and teach her this; if she doesn’t get this down, she will keep missing forehands by 15 feet and never have a shot at catching Iga. . I am really impressed with your teaching.

I think the serve and the forehand have a lot in common. This technique makes me think of pronation during the serve

I developed a kind of tennis yips and erratic forehand because after the lag I wasn't keeping my wrist firm but letting it flop through the hit.

For all you tennis-playing medieval warfare buffs, this video illustrates why trebuchets (shoulder and wrist levers) are far superior to catapults (shoulder lever only).

$2400 vs $700. That's a huge difference. Kinda wish comparison videos would compare things in the same category, at least.

Great video, but did you ever talk about the 1BH grip?
@Coaltal459 күн бұрын
Yes! As a beginner we can all hit the ball well at some point. Yet to do consistently is what makes you become better, much faster. I believe a (free) wall is a thousand times more useful than an expensive ball machine for the beginning player. Basic racquet control, Timing, and footwork are the keys to this. This video is gold for the new player just learning. Very well done sir!

Good content, but I think a lot of you guys talk too much and demo too little. I'd rather see 11 minutes of you hitting volleys, full speed and slow motion, and then just having a voice over.

Unfortunately the balls were all out to the side and not AT your physical body. That’s what I need help with. While I am supposedly in a fun group where people don’t purposely hit at people’s bodies, I have a guy hitting very hard at my body over and over again. There is no time to react almost. He’s handcuffing me. Can’t play with the guy anymore. I’ve spoken to him about it and he doesn’t care.

At 150k view, this is till underrated. Took me many years as a recreational player to realize imagine throwing the elbow (up n forward) THRU the contact point is what makes a solid serve. Different people may have different preparation/serve postures but this is key. Thanks Kevin for making this video. Would have saved me years of trial and error if this video had existed!

I wish I could show my coach this without him being offended. He keeps telling me to stop the racquet instead of pronating the shoulder which in turn slows the stroke down, as you said. As always a great lesson, thanks.
