A lot of instructors say to bring your rear arm elbow into your side on the downswing. When I tried this I hit the ball weakly to the right or hit a toe shank. A drill I use is to put down two balls side by side maybe 1 and half inches apart. I set up to the inner ball and then try to hit the outer ball. This drill has helped me get more freedom in my swing and much better ball striking rather then the cramped up position with the elbow into side. What do you think?

See a simple task of throwing the club and film your swing once you have it down; (make sure you are in a safe area!) see “throw the club straight shawn clement” and you will see the right elbow does exactly what it should do BY IT’S OWN SELF because this is the natural part of how the body slings stuff at it’s food! To instruct someone to use the elbow is like showing a fish to swim…😝😝

My concern is that if I grip it harder I can't cock my wrist as much at top of the backswing.
@mikecrook8434Күн бұрын
Second question...why wouldn't someone just adopt the feet-together approach as their standard method of swinging the club all the time from the wedges to the driver? I understand distance travel would be one factor for some people, but if they simply adjusted their distance scale based on their "feet-together" style, they'd be hitting straighter shots with much more consistency thus lowering their score. Is my thinking flawed? If so, how.
@golflessonsКүн бұрын
We get this all the time; absolutely! The only time it would be hard is if the course was very hilly, like Augusta or Bethpage black!
@donnalee7614Күн бұрын
Our perception is that at the top of the swing, the pendulum stops, then changes direction. But in actuality from a physics perspective, what really happens at that apex is the club is going infinite miles per hour in zero time! Think about that for a moment.
@donnalee7614Күн бұрын
I’m confused. You show a neutral grip, then call it a strong grip after rotating the wrists to close the face. From my point of view, the grip did not change. Only the rotation changed. Can you show closeups of the both hands on the club, please, when you grip during setup.

Hi Shawn playing really well since using your method of the golf swing . Still having problem with club head speed just using my body to swing . Is it me that you and Mu are also using your arms and hands to generate club head speed rather than just your arm .club unit .Keep up the good work . Dave .UK

Hey David! When using the weight of the arms and club to deliver the target bound action, the legs have to get engaged and this is what activates the kinetic chain reflex action in the body that we use for throwing, batting, hockey wrist and slap shots, Jai Alai releases, etc…the “throw the club straight shawn clement” video is quite awesome and the “throwing series” and the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” are top power getters on our premium channel.

Another master lesson, Shawn. Mu's swing is so free-wheeling when he sets himself. I remember when he just muscled it out there somewhere. He now has a golf swing that repeats. The "Quiet Man" is a talented athlete/golfer--OK, Long Driver... 7-iron! ;>) Love to swing like that just once--and then wait for someone to help me to a seat. ;>)

so what about if your absolutely blasting it with driver and its going dead straight/no curve about 30 yards left? since the ball is up in the stance, should I just move it back a little and do the blur test to make sure the club is going straight or to the right?

I've watched your videos so many different times but it never really hit me until recently, specially the gather at top. Once I did that little pause, then start that fall on my lead side and KA POW the ball went...toward my intended target too. But it really started once I figured out how to use my hands and wrists, I was doing too much with the body and not the really speed generators. So thanks for your insightful knowledge and now I understand.

Shawn great video. I find if I focus on just letting my arms fall then I get late with core body rotation. For me, I need to start that rotation at the same time as the arms are falling. Is this ok?

It’s a must but also not something to focus on. Focus on the target release and sending the dandelion over the intermediate point. If you do that everything else will work itself out:

Huge fan of the lessons on here and from my perspective it seems to make sense in between my ears… that said I think it’s time for some sort of shot tracer to be used when playing outside on the course… it’s just visually better to be able to see the balls flight instead of watching the landscape…. I watch Shawn on my phone for the most part but even when I watch on the TV or iPad I don’t see the ball… hopefully we will get a chance to see the tracer sometime soon

Makes me realise that it’s tricky even for Sav to get it right, what chance do I have? 😅 However, having said that, I felt that I lost my swing completely this week and couldn’t hit anything cleanly so I reverted to Shawn’s FEET TOGETHER while playing in yesterdays comp and voila, there it was!! I had obviously been swaying and had lost my balanced swing. FEET TOGETHER brought it back for the rest of the round. I played seven holes with it and came 10th out of 140. To be honest I’ll continue playing in the course with this as my distance was hardly compromised. Thanks Shawn …from Australia.

Sean, the top of your backswing with your left elbow very bent and club wrapped around your neck along the pause at the top are things I would never try to teach anyone. It works for you but those are not good fundamentals for anyone trying to improve their swing. I am 64 and can still hit a 7 iron 190yds with an effortless swing so I have a pretty good idea how to compress the ball.
@golflessons6 күн бұрын
Used to think like you; but doesn’t my left elbow straighten before impact? Human CNS takes good care of me; and I don’t teach body parts btw so we stay clear of elbow this and hip that…
