Hi! I have a 48 watt diode laser machine. Will I be able to make it even a little bit like yours? Or just a Co2 laser?
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 12 сағат бұрын
Diode lasers should be able to carve like this. However, beyond the laser type, it will depend on whether the software of that laser can produce a relief mode or 3D effect, where the software tells the laser to change the power for every pulse based on the shade of grayscale. Check with your manufacturer to see if they have a relief mode or a 3D mode to achieve this effect.

The process with Copilot is precisely the same. Copilot is using the same "Dall.E" image generator that was used in this video; it is just built into Microsoft Bing. Just open it up, type in that you want to create a "3D bas-relief image in greyscale," and tell it the image details!

It can only remove the mirror coating from a glass mirror so the light can come through; a C02 laser cannot cut glass. If the mirror is made from acrylic, it can cut that kind of mirror.

How do I remove the scorch marks from lasering leather?
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 8 күн бұрын
A damp cloth will remove some of this, but the key is to not overpower the laser so that it does not leave any scorch marks if possible. Should you be cutting thicker leather, you must mask the leather surface to protect it from the heat.

I’m using the laser to cut out my business logo in leather. It has some inside small corners which I can’t get to, which is why I ask. I’ll adjust power to see if that helps but frankly considering a different machine that has a blade, eliminating the whole scorch issue. I’m also going to wet the leather somewhat but also reluctant as it’s dyed, so afraid of colour removal. In a dilemma!

Instead of drawing around the tool you can use a scanner if you have one
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 8 күн бұрын
You are correct, but scanning the tool was slower, requiring more time to trace around it in the design software. When manually drawing the outline by hand it created a perfect offset, and then that drawing was scanned and quickly center traced, as shown in the video.

Ruby doesn't allow you to set markers and so you can't adjust your object or print form. So it's more a playful simple software for beginners but for professional tasks you will need job control. The problem: job control doesn't works on the new trotec lasers - so better buy an older model before 2022.
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 8 күн бұрын
Ruby can create Markers by pushing the "F8" ket in the Prepare screen. Ruby is not a "Playful simple software." As you state, Ruby has far exceeded the old JobControl Software in its features and capabilities, providing hundreds of features that cannot be achieved in JobControl. Please see this link for updated training on Ruby to see all the features that are now possible, like Print merge, tracing, Nesting and Graphic editing, and so much more: www.mytrotec.com/us/rubybasics/

@@TrotecLaser Whow!! You are right. With "F8" I can really set markers. Now I'm curious if still the atmos filter will start when only moving the laser head to the markers like it happens in Jobcontrol and Rayjet Manager. Funny that the Trotec staff in Germany and even the sales personal from Austria on the "Drupa 2024" didn't know it and say they don't support markers any more. I really ask for that at the fair. Maybe because there is no Icon for that. I know that even in Job Control and in the Trotec Rayjet Manager is a lot of hidden prompts that a nowhere described and mostly unknown. One example: to change movement speed of the laser by the hard buttons for adjustment, you can switch by "2x press ALT and 1 time press STRG/CTRL - than it goes slow, slower or faster) and similar tricks.

@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 21 күн бұрын
Settings will vary based on the brand of doormat you use. It may be an issue with the wattage being lower than the machine tested in the video. We did not try lower wattages, and it is possible that it may not work with only 50 watts. I would try it at 100% power, 20% speed, and 250DPI, and as shown in the video, keep trying new settings until you get the effect you want to see.

Hi Dave! I am looking to color fill Anodized Aluminum Metal Business Cards. I have gold cards I want to fill black and black cards I want to fill gold. I have a 30w fiber.. would the Rub and Buff work do you know? Or how else can I achieve this? Thank you!!!
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser Ай бұрын
That is challenging because rub 'n buff will not work this way on anodized aluminum, as it is a porous ceramic coating and not polished, so the rub 'n buff will color the entire surface if you try this and you cannot mask it because a fiber laser will not engrave the paper masking because of the wavelength. The only thing that I can think of is to spray the anodized aluminum with a clear polyurethane (possibly two coats) to seal the porous surface, then engrave it with a fiber to mark the anodized aluminum, and then use rub 'n buff or oil-based paint to rub in color. - Laser Dave

Newb, researching the market before I plunge in. Isn't running any co2 laser at 100% a lifespan no-no? I guess if you are factoring laser replacement costs into the sale price of the item it could still work out with the increased speed being worth the wear and tear.
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser Ай бұрын
With some brands, that is true. However, we use a ceramic core in our lasers. Because of this, they can easily handle full laser power whenever needed. Ceramic allows for better cooling, faster laser pulse time, and overall better performance, virtually eliminating the issues seen in other brands.

You are correct; this process would not work well with transparent acrylic because you will see the residue from the double-sided adhesive between the layers. I recommend a frosted or opaque acrylic. The second layer cannot be transparent or opaque to hide the wire as it ties together on the back.

The brand and color you use can make a huge difference; make sure to test with Black and also make sure you engrave deep enough into the materials so there is enough powder coating in the engraving; you can also engrave it out and place it in the powder coating and wipe the surface clean then use a heat gun to melt the powder coating in place of the out of focus laser.
